Is sweating profusely a symptom? I had the worst rapid eye movement dizzy, falling spell today. I am resting and am sweating about an hour later. Is this "normal?"
Sorry to hear you experienced a bad rapid eye movement dizzy, falling spell (episode of vertigo?) today, BlueHeron. I'm not sure. I would experience a cold sweat roughly 5 - 15 minutes before an episode of vertigo which would continue until the vertigo subsided. To speculate, it wouldn't surprise me if in some individual circumstances the body continues to sweat in an attempt to flush the body of any lingering, falsely perceived poisons, or sweat until the body is no longer in any form of shock. If it were an especially violent episode of vertigo, I see no reason why the body couldn't remain in shock for an hour or so afterwards. Having said that, I'm as curious as your are as to why this could, or would happen up to an hour after vertigo ceases.
For me the sweating would be at the height of the combined vertigo and vomiting but not an hour later unless of course i had vertigo and vomiting again.
what do you mean by falling spells? I used to sweat when I had a vertigo attack but once the spinning stopped I shivered with chills
During a bad vertigo attack, my body would oscillate back and forth between so hot I had to throw the covers off, to so cold I would sit there freezing, teeth chattering away. The term "cold sweat" is appropriate. All while throwing up every 20 minutes for 4-6 hours. Yeah, glad I don't feel that way today. *knock on wood*
Suddenly flushing red hot and sweating is my imminent warning I'm about to have a bad attack and to get some tranquilisers down me asap! Not had the sweating afterwards, just shakes and shivers without being cold.
In the middle of a vertigo attack the vomiting alone has me sweating buckets. An hour after? I'd be calling the doc or hitting the ER to make sure my heart was OK.
