I have to say I am more off balanced than having vertigo attacks now, off balance daily, with some dizziness that is short-lived when I get up, can't say it is vertigo. Am in the process of taking acyclovir (2 1/2 weeks) started lysine and now lemonbioflavonoid, I still get very fatigued fast, just from doing house work yesterday, and I didn't do heavy housework, I have gotten stronger during the work days, I drive and also do desk work, mostly sitting and some walking. I don't think I have all the symptoms of MAV but definitely off balance, have headaches (alot of times in the night when I am laying down) and anxious, I did not take any Ativan yesterday, the pharmacist looked at me like I am hooked on it last time I had it refilled but Internist was fine with it, ENT wants me to take meclazine instead so I don't get hooked on Ativan, and now the most hardest thing of all I LOVE MY COFFEE! I know I need to quit drinking it, to see if it makes a difference, I already had one cup this AM but now have put my cup away, Help I need encouragement to stop the coffee, Also I know I need to start exercising! :-\
Just my anxious complaining day I guess.

When I stopped drinking coffee, my feelings of being off balance 24/7 went away. I'm not going to lie, giving up coffee was terrible. I had to leave work early one day because I couldn't stay awake. Tapering down would have been better than going cold turkey. But I did it and I feel better. I still miss my morning coffee so sometimes I drink decaf. I think that tricks my body into thinking I had some caffeine. By the way, my doctor told me to give up chocolate, wine, and cheese too because he thinks I have MAV. That was basically telling me to stop eating and drinking. :(

As far as exercising goes, it seems that every positive menieres story I read mentions exercising and staying active helped control their symptoms. I try to walk or bike every day, even if I don't feel so great. I also started doing tai chi. In a strange way, tai chi is helping a little with anxiety.

I have MAV and rarely get headaches. The condition is a collection of neurological symptoms which have various triggers such as lighting, hormones, weather, scents, food intolerances, stress, lack of sleep.......

I have come to the conclusion that sufferers have ultra sensitive brains, which leads to balance problems, brain fog and fatigue.

Like Cjbeau, I have found coffee seems to be a trigger and am also trying to quit the stuff which is hard, as I love it. But I seem so sensitive to caffeine that when I cut out my morning dose, I got a withdrawal headache. I was having less than a quarter teaspoon of caffeinated coffee mixed with decaf but when I went without even this minute amount, I suffered.

However, I'd rather have a chunk of my balance back and if this means giving up coffee, then so be it.

I was going to try acyclovir, despite there being no evidence it would help MAV. I even got a script filled but have yet to try it. You get so desperate you'd try anything, as everyone here knows.

Hi. How do you know that you have MAV versus MD? I don't have headaches either but wonder if I have MAV. Thanks!

I was diagnosed with MM, but after reading about MAV I have begun to suspect that I may have that too.
Good NEWS! I felt so rotten on Sat. But better on Sun, was not as tired and my dizziness or off balance feeling was less on Sunday! Today Monday, I was able to go part of day without hearing aides if I wasn't in a crowd of people, and I heard! no dizziness or off balance today, no headache, and I had about 1/4 cup of coffee just to keep me from having a caffeine withdrawal headache! It has been a wonderful day, It will be 3 weeks on Wed. since I started the Acyclover, 8 days since I started Lysine, and 3 days since I started lemon bioflavonoid, and one day since I started Monolaurin! I hope it is everything working and not just a remission from MM! Now if I can keep away from the coffee! I am so excited!!!!

I don't get the hours long episodes of vertigo. I also don't have any hearing loss.

I do have tinnitus and vertigo, but this is mostly either short, or positional.

The tinnitus increased some on Tuesday, but I am still hearing better, and no off balance feeling! I am seeing the audiologist on the 18th, as I need adjustment on my hearing aides, they are too loud! lol When the tinnitus is really bad, I can still hear sounds but have difficulty understanding speech, especially on the phone, the tinnitus is a low pitch, the same tone as a lot of people's voices, especially men's voices. I have the tinnitus again today, but we had some weather changes on Tuesday, but I am still hearing better! And it has been 5 years since I lost my hearing to MM, I shouldn't say lost it, because it has fluctuated to where it is good and then bad again, when it is bad is when I start to panic, but it is good right now and I do thank God for sending me to this site where other people understand! And on this site I have found remedies to try!
I introduced Vinpocetine on the 9th and today I am adding Gingko.
