It really IS different for everyone.... it definately sounds like it could be... But I would suggest going to an ENT and do all the tests .... there really isnt one test FOR it - it is more of a process of elimination type thing... plus hearing and balance tests etc..

 

You need to see a Neurotologist. They are usually are better than an ENT when it comes to Menieres. Good Luck

 

Positional vertigo meaning, when you turn right or left in bed or look up and down?

 

I guess since you don't get true spinning vertigo and have hearing loss it could be Meniere's.

I also had tinnitus for the longest time with no balance problems, tinnitus has multiple causes away from the inner ear itself.

Usually positional vertigo that causes the room to spin is associated with BPPV, I had this once, every time I turned to the left side on my bed the room would spin. You say it's rocking from side to side which doesn't fit the description perfectly however just recently I know another person here that had the rocking motion as well when looking down to pet their cat, and at other times they had true spinning vertigo when they moved their head in other positions.

 

I identify with you. I believe the big thing that separates Menieres from other hearing illnesses is the violent chronic vertigo. I too was told 25 years ago that I had MM but recently I went to another doctor and he told me I don't have it. So you may have to see how life goes from now on. I still don't feel well but I don't have violent dizziness, just tinnitus and hearing loss. My violent dizziness was only for 3 days when I lost the hearing then it leveled off. I would get another opinion. But sometimes you just have to wait and see how it plays out. My other ear is fine.
