I noticed that my right ear which is the affected ear will sometimes whistle when I blow my nose hard and it only happens on this side, never on the non affected side. Wondering if it's the same for you or not.

If you do get it on the same side please mention if you also had water ear irrigation cleanings. I have and wondering if there is a connection.

Sounds like you may have a hole in your eardrum. I get the whistling sound in my right ear, the same ear in which I had three dexamethasone injections several years ago. The same hole was used for all three injections and it never healed up. My oto says the hole is so small it's not causing any problems, so he doesn't think it needs to be patched.

I see, did you have the whistling happen before you got the dexamethasone injections though?

No, I didn't. I started out with MM in the left ear 40+ years ago and never had whistling in that ear. Became bilateral 7-8 years ago and never had whistling in the right ear, either, until the dex injections left me with a small hole in the eardrum.

My GP and Allergist say, "NEVER BLOW YOUR NOSE!! It will blow the allergens up your Eustachian tube and into your inner ear.

Allergist also recommended using a bulb syringe and the premixed packets of salt to clean out sinuses every morning. This will keep you from having to blow. All that snot will come out.

Allergist also recommends using Flonaze every morning and night.

Cheryl, I see, so there is no link for you because you didn't have whistling when Meniere's started. Only got whistiling after the injections which make sense.

I had the whistling prior to Meniere's and water irrigation ear cleanings, sometimes I felt the water drain through my eustachian tube, I wonder if this was the point of entry for any virus, fungus, pathogen etc this is the purpose of this poll.

Santa, I usually don't blow my nose hard, for the reasons you describe but once in a while I do. I've used the netipot and sometimes wonder if that even caused my symptoms.

My Allergist doesn't like the Netty Pot. Why? Because you have to tilt your head to one side which can allow more to flow up the Eustachian tubes.

With Bulb syringe your head is straight up and down. And believe me, you will not have to blow your nose. The snot will come pouring out.

Is this the kind of bulb syringe you use Santa? http://www.nosesucker.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/nose-sucker.bmp

Also what mixture do you use?

You fill it with water and spray it all up the nose with head straight?

that's the type I use prozeal but I use a prescription saline solution my ENT writes a script for. Not sure why its a prescription solution though but works great.

I thought saline wasn't good to use because of
The salt. I've wanted to use the saline sprays
But the first ent told me not to . I take
    It , it's not bothersome.

Yes, that is the type. I got mine from my Allergist.

I lost it on vacation and tried to buy one locally. Walgreens, Walmart, but they only have the little ones. Maybe 2 0z.

The one I got from allergist was bigger, at least 3 oz., maybe bigger. It was also brown.

I am going to call tomorrow and see if they will give me another or tell my where to buy one.

I use premix packages called Neilmed Sinus Rinse. They are sold in Publix, Cvs, Walgreens, etc and I mix them with DISTILLED Water

If you use this method their is no sinus burn.

I bought a 3 oz bulb syringe from allergist today for $10. They get them by the case of 50 for .50 each. What a mark up.

Now I know I can get the same kind ( different color) from Amazon for $3.50
