Just got back from my dr he gave my a script
For betahistine that I requested after reading
About it on this forum. He explained that it is
A good and simple drug used in all other
Countries except USA , because the
    Phamacautical companies won't pay millions
To FDA to approve such a simple
Drug. So now I need to find a pharmacy
    From Canada. Any recommendations?
I don't want to randomly pick one and its
Being made in someone's basement. I was
Shocked he gave to me to get from Canada.

I order it from canadadrugs.com with no issues. Much cheaper than getting it compounded locally at Walgreens (1/3 the price).

Lisa: Please make sure you're doing "High-Dosage". Anything under 96mg/day is pretty much ineffective.

'Lots of posts, (some by myself), in the forum about High-Dosage SERC usage.

    Good luck.

I took betahistine 3 x 16mg per day and it was very effective for me. Use your own judgement on dose, as any high dose of medication over and above the prescribed amount could be dangerous for some people.

Thanks everyone for posting my dr prescribed
    16mg 3x daily. Didn't order yet. I prefer
To start slow to see how it affects me.

In my case, 2 x 24mg a day of Betahistine was ineffective. But, I have no symptoms between vertigo episodes except for some tinnitus. The only way I could tell that it could have worked was had I vertigo while taking betahistine (which I did) or not.

It didn't work for me. BUT I live in the US and was able to fill it down the street at a compounding pharmacy.

On the betahistine ? That's my safety net I don't

I have taken Xanax and betahistine together. I don't think there are many drug interactions with betahistine. It seems to be working. I have had some attacks, but I haven't had rotational vertigo, just dizziness. Good luck!

Yes, that's where people in the USA get it usually because its allowed in the USA to fill it at a compounding pharmacy. I do not know though which is cheaper, but it's probably safer than getting it online but pleasenodizzy says they have no problems with it from canadadrugs.com
    Walgreens site says
"We offer basic medication compounding at all neighborhood Walgreens pharmacies. We also offer more complex compounding services at some of our pharmacies. Contact your local Walgreens to see if it has the compounding services you require."

and ask the price if they do.

This is from Dr Hains site where he talks about where to buy SERC/Betahistine in the USA. (its from 2010
    http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/treatment/drug/SERC%20sources.htm
    Serc is available at Walgreens

While in the past it was somewhat difficult to obtain betahistine, now it can be purchased easily at Walgreen's pharmacies. The cost at Walgreens is very reasonable, and in our experience, roughly 1/3 of the price at the compounding pharmacies where one used to have to go.

The process at Walgreens is that you take in your prescription to the pharmacy. When the technician at the front desk says that they don't carry it, ask for it to be special ordered through the Walgreens compounding service. This usually works very well.

Sometimes Walgreens clerks or pharmacists will claim that they have "never heard of Serc". This does not mean that Walgreen's doesn't carry Serc -- it means that the clerk is uninformed. Here, we suggest that you politely ask for the "compounding pharmacist", and suggest to them that if they can't figure it out, to call a Walgreens branch that knows how to do this.

There are multiple Canadian sources of Betahistine.

    1. Murray Shore pharmacy in Toronto. 800-201-8590. www.mshorepharmacy.com. $36.00 plus shipping and setup fee.

For the Murray Shore pharmacy a patient needs to fax the prescription and give a credit card number over the phone. There is a Federal Express fee on top of the charge for the medication, and a one-time $10.00 charge for him to set up an account.
    2. ADV-CARE Pharmacy in Ontario, Canada

    at 1-877-948-0464. 70 Esna Park, Markham, Ontario, Tel: (416) 410-9222 or (905) 948-1991, $35/100 8mg pills plus mailing costs.

    3. Canadadrugs (http://www.canadadrugs.com), sells generic 16 mg Betahistine for $35.81.

My doctor had a list of pharmacies and prices. You might want to ask your doctor if he has a list like this. Walgreens charges less than a small pharmacy. I get a month's supply for $50.

Has anyone experienced any adverse side effects from Betahistine? Can it be taken in conjunction with a diuretic? I have been taking Spironolactone for about two weeks. My ENT never mentioned Betahistine. He told me the standard treatment for Meniere's was taking a diuretic combined with a low sodium diet. I would be interested in trying Betahistine but I'm concerned about possible side effects and possible interaction with my diuretic. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Vincent , my dr gave me the script knowing
    I'm taking a diuretic . I only take 1/2 a pill and even
Suggested I take the full dose. You can check
With your doctor or pharmacist but I
    Think it's ok
