Just wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences with tinnitus going into remission and whether they did anything special they thought made a difference. I know most say you get used to it, but I'm still looking for a glimmer of hope that a person with CH or MM could wake up in the morning without the tinnitus. Anyone have anything they can share on this topic?
I had a very small experience with this, I had to go to a chiropractor (I do not recommended this) due to previous injuries and he was working on my neck and with one click it went away. To be honest I didn't like it, was a strange feeling but about 10 seconds later it came back because I moved
I took antivirals which restored the clarity of my hearing (eliminated severe distortion) quickly and later in combination with allergy shots brought my audiogram to normal range. At the time the distortion was cleared up, the tinnitus went away. I had had it steady for 9 months at the time and it was a low pitched, very loud jet engine or fan noise. I believe it was the antivirals that fixed it.
My "constant" tinnitus is not in my CH ear, but in the ear that had the tumor removed. And it does vary in volume/intensity. The tinnitus in my CH comes and goes. Go figure.
I have a constant high pitched tinnitus in my operated ear that has never gone away. It sounds like static. It is worse after a big meal (sodium?) or in a noisy environment. Over the years it has become a white noise and is not nearly as aggravating as the tinnitus from the hydrops was in the other ear.
They say sodium, aspirin, caffeine ... usually stimulant kind of things rev it up. I know of no way to get rid of that. How long since the operation?
‘Large-dosage’ SERC (Betahistine) has been a blessing for me. More here ...... http://menieres.org/talk/index.php?topic=28.0 I believe that 48mg/day is far too small a dosage, at least, for me. I have been doing 224mg/day for a few months now. My Meniere’s may, or may not, be in a natural state of remission, however, it is undeniable that, after 15 years of fluctuating noise levels (Tinnitus), ‘something’ has brought the noise level down to ‘barely audible’ and my hearing has returned to 80-85% of my normal (although a semi-tone lower). This situation seems to have stabilized and I am presently extremely grateful for “large-dosage” Betahistine.
