My husband was in a car accident last Monday, the other driver T-Boned our car after running a red light. We have 10,000 dollars worth of damage to our car. My husband had no visible injuries but hurt his neck and shoulder from the impact. His glasses went flying off his face when he was struck and they landed on the passengers side on the floor. Thank God I wasn't in the car or I would have been seriously injured. He saw a Dr. But the next day he developed tinnitus. Last night he said it was bad. It got loud. I sure hope he doesn't developed MM symptoms from the accident. What do you suggest he do? Who should he see for this?
So sorry to hear about your hubby's accident. Maybe an easy and reasonable start would be a NUCCA to make sure his neck is not out of alignment. I get more aural fullness and tinnitus when my neck is bothering me.
Vicki - Just make sure chiro is "upper cervical specific." I go to a Blair chiro. I recommend Blair over NUCCA. Just personal preference. Either way, make sure they x-ray you to assess what's going on and that they never twist or pop your neck. NUCCA does those things to, I just like Blair.
Thanks Gardengal, I never heard of NUCCA before joining these forums and this is the first time I hear of Blair, I will goggle it. I am totally unfamiliar with any type of chiropractic medicine.
Vicki, I would have him go immediately to a regular ENT first. It is important to document everything that is connected to the crash to ensure that he will get paid/reimbursed for any medical costs. Then take it from there. I have done NUCCA and QSM3 which are both upper cervical. To me what it is called is less important than the doctor performing it.
Hi Vicki, I am so sorry to hear about your husband's accident....scary! I found this article that helped me understand upper cervical chiropractic treatment. There are different methods but it is important that the chiropractor is trained as an upper cervical chiroprator. I agree with Nicmger, if you feel one doctor isn't helping, then try another one. Just like ENT's, they are all different. Anyway, I hope this article helps http://hearinglosshelp.com/blog/atlas-adjustments-alleviate-menieres-disease/
There's a good Facebook group that discusses these triggers "meniere's vertigo tinnitus TMJ:Menieres no more chat and support group"
Hi Vicki, I'm pretty sure he won't develop MM symptoms, the tinnitus is most likely from neck going out of alignment or spasm'd muscle, I don't trust chiropractors much. I'd go to physiotherapist or a "physiatrist" or anyone specializing in car accident rehabs.
thanks prozeal I don't trust them much either, thanks for the advice. He decided to start with an ENT and we will see what he says and recommends.
