I came down with a cold last Friday Sept. 11, my ear started hurting on Monday Sept 14th, my doctor kindly gave me Zithromax by( telephone call) because I told him I had to work on the 15th. The night of the 14th, my ear REALLY Hurt until it popped and drained, my ear drum broke, am still taking the Zithromax for another couple of days, has any one else ever had this problem, I did not get get dizzy with the ear infection, just pain. I started the Acyclovir on 7/22/15, I was just starting to cut one of the Acyclovir pills in half at nighttime, but now I am wondering if I better keep with the full dosage of 2400. I have had days of no dizziness, yaaaay, one still pops up now and then, I also take JOH, I have trouble taking the lysine 2 hours after evening meal because I am usually in bed by then, I am thinking of taking the lysine, 1/2 hour before lunch and 1/2 hour before dinner to see if I can get it all in that way, it says to take on an empty stomach. Again, thank you all for having this site and contributing to this site, I am not alone in this anymore!
Hi Linda sorry to hear about your ear Infection, I do t know much about the a/v Unfortunately it wasn't the cute for me But seeing how it works for you maybe You should leave the dosage until the infection Is long gone. Good luck feel better
The advice I was given by Dr G was when anything is weakening the immune system, raise the dose during that time, since you are on the highest it would probably be best to stay at 2400 mg until the infection is gone
I am on full dosage on anti viral again. Last dose of antibiotic today, my tinnitus has gone way up again which has made my hearing decrease again, but no dizziness, I took meclazine yesterday just as an antihistamine and benadryl last night for the same antihistamine thing, but I feel like I need a decongestant, now my right ear is popping and hurting, it was my left eardrum that broke on Monday. Any Suggestions on a decongestant compatible with MM?
For several people antibiotics make their MM symptoms worse. Hopefully once your off them the tinnitus and fullness will subside. But great you did not get vertigo
awww! interesting that antibibotics can make MM worse! Thanks for the info, glad this is my last day!
Antibiotics make MM symptoms worse? Why would that be? In all my years with MM, I've never heard this.
Here Cheryl I just made a thread http://menieres.org/talk/index.php/topic,1515.new.html#new many antibiotics and other meds are ototoxic
Bad news for me, I had a bad vertigo attack at work yesterday, vomiting, go home to bed kind, stayed in bed from 1030 yesterday morning and all night, today is the tired not feeling good day after vertigo attack, but now my ear is hurting again, I think my ear infection is back or never left. Hope I can get into a doctor tomorrow.
Linda I am sorry to hear you had an attack, but keep in mind if the ear infection is not gone, then the vertigo attack is due to the ear infection and not necessarily MM. People w/o MM who get ear infections can and do get vertigo from it. Feel better!
Saw a dr. today, left ear still red, on Zithromax again 500 mg the first day then 250 mg the next 4 days and also ear drops for my left ear, Ciprodex Otic, 4 drops twice daily x 10 days. Hope it works. Don't know if it is MM or the infection or both. My left ear is the one I hear better from, but of course not at this moment. Now I am in my own in little almost silent world again. The hearing aides help somewhat but not really well at this moment. Just had to complain, I know I have felt better and will feel better again!
