The good doctors you connect with need to learn the authentic, evidence-based facts showing the efficacy of antiherptics. Get that info to them, first. Read the following:

I'm starting to believe that ENTs oppose antivirals bc it cuts into their profits. There is absolutely no other logical reason to do so. There are almost no side effects and it's proven safe for long-term use. But instead, they want you to come to them regularly for Valium prescriptions which are highly addictive. Addiction = $$ for them.

Thanks John I do have this printed out to share with a provider. I have been following this forums info on the antivirals and am also taking your regimen. When I spoke with my ENT's nurse it sounds like he is not interested in getting the research as he doesn't believe this is a viral process. As he is sending me on to a specialist in his group to talk about surgical interventions I said I would like to try an easier and less permanent option first!

I am hoping to find someone here who already has an open minded MD/NP in Minnesota so I can start this soon!!

Yes, scott tom, above, has nailed the problem with so many physicians. They make very little money writing out a prescription, especially when the prescribed drug simply solves the problem, with no further medical services needed (as with antiherpetics, in the majority of cases). Frankly, any physician who refuses to read Gacek's findings, and hides behind a "I don't believe that" curtain is plainly unethical. Nothing noble or professional with that. The guy is jerk, sadly.
