:p My beloved older brother suggested a stem-cell procedure as a cure. Has anyone else had any experience with this procedure?

Of course my health plan in the USA does not cover anything like this. I'm beginning to feel that these HMO's and drug companies prefer folks to be ill since they are all about profit.

If you are looking into alternative treatments, you may want to look up how TMJD and various shoulder and neck issues can cause these symptoms. Be well. There's a guy in our FB group who tried the stem cell route and it messed up his white cell count.

Do a search thru the archives - I now this subject was talked about. Can't remember if anyone had the procedure.

I would recommend trying anti-virals - they work for a percentage of people.

On one of the facebook Meniere's sites, one of the guys who had the regenokine treatments had his in Miami, FL. He mentioned that he believes that the treatments can be done in CA, NY, TX and FL. The doctors offering the treatment use it for ligament (knees, back,) type of issues. Using it for Meniere's is considered "off-label" and not covered by insurance. And of course, there are no guarantees.

I stay in touch with a guy who had the Regenokine treatments in New York. It cost him about $14,000. Within a few weeks he felt much better and his dizziness completely disappeared and the aural fullness and tinnitus was much improved. Unfortunately it only lasted about a year and early this year his symptoms started to return. The last I heard from him he was debating about trying it again. I suggested since he lives on the east coast that he reach out for Dr Gacek and try antivirals.

;) I'll keep my $14k and stick with the John Of Ohio regime.
I'm counting myself lucky with not having any vertigo attacks and only my right ear affected. This has been going on for 6 months now, so I'm hopeful that I've caught it early enough for the vitamins, Lysine & antivirals to take hold.
On the plus side, going on a low salt paleo diet has not hurt my waistline!

I'm grateful for his forum too. No one in my family, circle of friends or even band mates understands this horrible disease. I truly feel for those who suffer the symptoms in their teens and 20s. I'm in my late 40's and NOT ready to give in or give up.
Thank you all for your insight & humor.
    Be well.

I looked into this treatment when I started having symptoms. A few notes ...

1 - It's not a stem cell procedure. They take some of your blood, pull out an anti-inflammatory agent called Interleukin, and concentrate it. It's then put into the area that is having issues. It's called regenokine.

2 - There is only one practice that will do it for Meniere's. They have an office in NYC and one in Florida, I think Boca. Apparently, if you really push on the folks in Germany they'll do it but I'm not sure how much you have to push. I get the feeling that some people went for a reason not related to Meniere's. "My neck on this side really hurts ... yeah that's the bad ear side but ... really my neck hurts!" :) The other practices that offer the treatment only do so for ligament and inflammation issues and require paperwork, MRIs, etc.

3 - It's not covered by insurance and costs a lot. 14K sounds about right but I can't remember the exact figure. Not sure what Germany charges.

4 - It takes six business days to get all of the blood work and injections so tack on expenses if you're not in those areas.

5 - It doesn't cure or fix the issue. Some people are good for years, some are not. They do mention that you may have to come back for further treatments. I assume it costs another 14K.

If anyone has more questions let me know and I'll dig back through my notes.
