Most of us call it brain fog. Menieres affects our cognitive abilities and each of us have different experiences that fall under that category. I thought it would be interesting to share our stories back and forth. Might even get a few chuckles, . So today I'm drying dishes, etc, and I put one of the small pots in the refrigerator instead of the cabinet and the family had fun when my husband went in the fridge and found it.
I just asked a dear friend on which day Thanksgiving falls this year. He just calmly told me that he has made that mistake, too. DUH. Margie
I hope I'm not the only one who does this! I copied a joke for quotes. It took me forever to put it on paper with misspelling and typing the wrong words even though I just read it about 10 times to get it right. What was worse was typing it here in quotes because the same thing happened. Now I've had to read this multiple times to make sure I got it right. I'm not experiencing vertigo attacks, so this kind of thing freaks me out. Share We can all relate to more things people post.
I wonder if this has happened to anyone else. Funny afterwards, not so much while it's happening. We go to the mall which is always busy this time of year. We come out and I can't remember where I parked. (Anyone else?) Get to the car and the clicker won't open the car. Wrong car? Nope Use the key and that doesn't work either. Call AAA who says they can be there in an hour and tow the car. Call Huns to come with an extra set of keys and heard blah, blah, blah, I must be doing something wrong. So I hung up. Mo,nets later I checked my purse and found another set of keys. Apparently I was using keys for daughters car. Problem solved. Cognition, my friends, cognition.
Today I started Thanksgiving prep. I know where everything in my kitchen is. I swear every time I went to get so,ething, I went to the wrong cabinet and the same way when putting things away. Come on guys, I know you read this Share your stories. This is part of the cognition effects of Menieres or I'm going crazy.
Bea, my problem is I don't know if my cognition issues are due to mm or the fact that I go on Medicare in 2016!!
^^^funny My cognition nightmare started when I thought my SIL was my wife one night. Not sure if it was the mm or jack and cokes I was drinking at a wedding reception. Let's just say all the rooms have dead bolts on them now. 8)
Lol very funny stories this has always Been normal for me so I can't blame mm Especially not remembering where I park the Going over to a car that looks similar And wondering why can't unlock the door with the remote Also every time I go food shopping 9 out of Of 10 x's If I take my hands off my cart Be sure I walk away with someone else's And to make things worse i never realize Till I'm almost done food shopping.
I think so many of us have a lot to contribute to this thread. I think the stories will be very interesting and let others know it's not just them. BD, real classy! LMAO Deadbolts, ROFLMAO
Mzybe I should have told the one when I fell asleep on my anniversary night and my wife woke me up in middle of night only to tell me to stop saying BumbleBea.
My husband has Meniere's. A month ago he was searching wildly for the TV remote. He finally found it in the landl line telephone charging base. I recently had shoulder surgery then 4 weeks later I fell and broke a bone in my foot. Not allowed to put any weight on it for 3 weeks. OMG. Totally dependent on Mr. Meniere's! As it turned out it was the best thing that has happened in our relationship since Meniere's. Anyway, on the way to a doctor's appointment we stopped at Whole Foods. I had put a list of 4 things in his phone. We went over the list. He said "organic wild blueberries... I just heard someone on the radio talking about how important it is to buy organic berries". The next day I go to make our smoothies and guess what? Regular old conventional blueberries.
I swear, I never lose my glasses. If I take them off, I always have the same place I put them. Well tonight I lost my glasses. I traced back my steps from where I keep them through the kitchen and then into the two bedrooms, bathroom and I still couldn't find them. I then stood by the kitchen mentally retracing again and I noticed the voice message blinking on the phone. There were my glasses by the phone. I last spoke to my mother and had taken the glasses off to massage my head because her conversation was giving me a headache as they are wont to. LOL These things seem to be happening more and more even though my Menieres symptoms are in remission except for occasionally and that is ALWAYS due to a stressful situation. I ride them out. The last one was an hour. So when I get hit, it doesn't last long and aren't as severe as episodes before Acyclovir. Anyway, I found my glasses. Anyway, now if it ever happens again at look by the phone because my mom calls a lot.
Lol I'm in big trouble if mm causes cognitive Issues , a few years back before mm I bought My kids to school returned home with my 2 year old brought him on the house had my hands With baby bags and a box of opened cookies Left in the car , supposed to meet a friend for Lunch Keys are no where to be found , canceled lunch Walked 2 miles to car dealer to see about getting another Car key made up , get in house go to the pantry See the cookie box and Bam it hits me The could I have put my keys in the box Of cookies Yes I did typical story of my life Lol
The vinpocetine in my Meniere's treatment regimen (http://www.zoominternet.net/~kcshop/JOH.pdf) markedly improves cognition --- whether one has Meniere's or not. --John of Ohio
I went to the Drs today. The appt. is for tomorrow. and they couldn't fit me in I don't like that, I might look for another dr
Well, in my upper 70's, I never know if it's 'brain fog' or just 'brain age'! LOL However, I find it hard to carry on a conversation on the phone and hear/understand anything else going on--like my husband saying something or something on TV that I was watching, etc. In fact, it really 'unnerves me' when something is said to me while I'm trying to carry on another conversation. You say to the person on the phone, 'wait just a minute' and in the meantime the other person, thinks you are talking to them and the words get 'all mixed in' and that makes me 'crazy'! LOL. And yes, I have put something that should have been in the fridge--in the pantry by mistake too. And--misplaced my glasses and my cell phone. Worse thing--my hearing aid! See what you have to look forward to when you get to my age? The age thing and this 'brain fog'! Hang in there everyone! It's a 'bumpy ride'! LOL
When I'm on the phone and someone in the house starts talking to me too, I go nuts and I can't hear either one. I usually go into another room. Then when I get off, I have to explain how RUDE it is to try to have a conversation whilst someone is on the phone and I can't hear them anyway. Over and over and yet it continues. Il be speaking and people have a habit of starting a different conversation with someone else. Again, RUDE. By then I've lost my entire train of thought! Age, hmmm, I'm not far behind so I expect mine will be worse with my current cognition bloopers. But, I do love these stories and I wish more would post their storie here.
