Eight and a half months with no vertigo. YES!!! :)

This week only took one 1,000 mg of Val. per day, 5 days. I was thinking maybe I don't need to take any.

Yesterday.......it was noon and I hadn't taken it yet. I usually take it by 9:00.
I was talking on the phone and BAM!! WTFrack!! It started to hit like a train. My neck and whole head. Then I looked down and it stopped. I still felt weak and shook up and scared. I ran (walked fast) to my bottle of Val. and took two. I was ok the rest of the day.

Thinking to myself- writing to you-----I will start taking two one day and one the next to see if that is my maintenance. Or, one and a half per day. Yeah, one and a half per day. I'm still scared maybe I should just go back to two per day.

I would probably try the 1.5 per day; and have the "extra" pill if needed. On the "off" days I pop a 2nd pill and it seems to work, haven't yet had to go back full time to 2. BUT I know for some people 2 might be the dose...

Hang in there Santa, its getting to be that time of year when the kids lists are going to start arriving and the reindeers are going to need to be be trained to fly that sled, the elf's will need to be monitored and then Mrs. Clause is surely going to want and need some attention.

    Hang in there my friend!!

I used to pop 5 mg valium like tic tac's before i had the laby, nothing wrong with taking what you need to make it through the day!!

Geez, I made it to the NICE list this year. You can't be sick!!

The Elves will help you through. BD and I are some of those elves.
Pay attention to the symptoms that are a prelude to vertigo. That's when it time to lay down and breathe through it or take something like Valium as BD suggested.

We'll help you get through this Santa. :)

you usually take it at 9 AM? or PM? Don't get fooled you don't need it w/o the AV that little sucker wakes up and wrecks havoc.

My suggestions is to go back 2 pills since you just had an attack which means the virus isn't latent. Once you feel comfortable then try 1.5 pills

Sorry, new here! But are you saying you took 1,000mg of Valium per day for 5 days? My script is for 2mg. How on earth did you stay awake?

its an antiviral not valium. Many of us in fact the majority of us (but not all) get symptom relief from antivirals. Check the forums database for Dr Gaceks publications on antivirals for Meniere's symptoms.

Exact names of the antiherpetic drugs, in many or most cases, are not enough for conventional physicians; most of whom have no understanding of how these drugs can so effectively suppress Meniere's symptoms. More often than not, when a Meniere's patient asks a doctor --- even an ENT --- for an antiviral drug to treat their Meniere's, the good physician says, "Meniere's is not caused by a virus. The cause is unknown, so no, I won't prescribe an antiherpetic for you. Listen to me. I'm the expert. Continue with the low salt diet and the diuretic I prescribed for you. It's the only thing we can do for you for now. Later, if things get worse [as they usually do] we can do some surgery."

So, we need to gently prompt the good doctor to learn some new things in medicine, that there is now published clinical proof that antiherpetic drugs can, with a high degree of success, effectively control Meniere's symptoms. Therefore, the patient has to get the info to the doctor (ahead of an appointment), so he or she can read and ponder it.

    Hi

I'm sorry Rose481, I should have spelled out the Val. = Valacyclovir an antiviral that can help control the symptoms the virus is causing with many of us that have Meneires.

Yes, I was ok, fine, right after taking the two val's on Friday afternoon. I usually take one around 9 a.m. and another before I go to bed.

However; I forgot to take one last night. and it's 9:20 a.m., now. So, as soon as I finish writing I am going to go take it.

Thank you, to all you wonderful elves.

  12. Good to hear that you're doing better.
