I have heard that Heel Corp will discontinue the Cocculus Compositum in the US. If fact I can't find it anywhere. Has anyone any info on this or ideas where I can order it?
I see where John of Ohio says that Vertigoheel is available for those of you who have been using Cocculus Compositum.
Apparently, Cocculus Compositum is no longer available in the US. It appears that the Heel company, of Germany, is no longer selling it in the US, or perhaps no where at all. It's exactly the same as Vertigoheel; just with different name and packaging. But presently --- for reasons I do not understand, since it's a homeopathic preparation --- Vertigoheel is a prescription drug in the US. I do not know the regulatory reasons for this, and/or who rendered this ruling. Most physicians will not prescribe homeopathic preparations; and few are aware of Vertigoheel. It used to be listed in the PDR, the Physician's Desk Reference, a compendium of all currently available drugs. But I'm not aware of the preparation's persent status in regard to the PDR. Earlier, patients who requested Vertigoheel prescriptions could ask their physicians to reference it in the PDR (where the entry told of its efficacy against vertigo symptoms). Consequently, the matter is now rather murky. I don't know specifically how a Meniere's patient can now acquire Vertigoheel. Wouldn't hurt to ask the physician (or, yes it could; should the doctor dismiss homeopathy out of hand, as most do). --John of Ohio
I am not familiar with these products but I found them on amazon if this is the same product you are talking about http://www.amazon.com/Heel-Vertigoheel-Rx-100-tablets/dp/B0006PKDME
I see they only have 1 left here is another one that has 3 left http://www.amazon.com/Heel-Vertigoheel-Rx-100-tablets/dp/B00GLOW8B8/
Word is that Heel is discontinuing all business in the US and Canada effective August 15, 2014 due to a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit was settled with no admission of guilt on the false advertising charges, but Heel lost a great deal of money defending the company. You won't be able to get Vertigoheel anymore either, prescription or not. The links on Amazon are for the last Vertigoheel in stock.
I'll have to revise my Meniere's Treatment write-up; and try to get the several sites offering the PDF to offer the new revised issue. Sorry to see Vertigoheel and Cocculus Compositum retreat from the US. Understood, however. --John of Ohio
