Either San Diego or San Francisco, which is better? I keep reading they are the two most beautiful cities in US. I know they are very different but which one do you like for those who have been to both. Ps: for some reason I really liked Seattle. Born and raised on East Coast and have never really been out west. Advice on SD & SF?
I have heard Northern California is beautiful but I have also heard that SF has a big homeless problem, lots of panhandlers and safety issues but I could be wrong. SD I have read is more beachy (surf city USA) laid back and voted most beautiful weather in the world in some magazines and world famous beaches, zoo ect..... For culture and diversity people tell me SF and go to wine country. But some tell me SF is a dump where you have homeless people everywhere and human feces on the streets, the views are magnification though. I consider myself a simple guy who likes shorts, t-shirts, birkenstocks and relaxing. SF may be a little snobby, and big city for me. Call me shallow but hey, that's who I am!! Ps: I have zero interest looking at art, museums ect.. growing up around DC and living in NY for 10 years I saw enough of that crap. I have this picture of SD in my mind of sort of like heaven on earth with the weather, beaches, surf shops ect..... David--- you live in SF?
Huntington Beach is known as Surf City USA.and it's in Orange County.BD I live in San Mateo. You could check out the wine country, Napa and Sonoma. From there drive down to S.F.then connect to and drive south on the 101 freeway or visiting Stanford where my friend Ingrid works. You could visit Silicon Valley where Facebook and other computer companies are located(maybe they have tours). You might want to visit the Monterey Aquarium,Pacific Grove,Carmel and San Simeon which is along route 1.You could fly out at Salinas airport in Salinas,Ca.If staying in Pacific Grove I suggest staying at Asilomar, call for reservations. You could have lunch or dinner at the Fishwife right across from Asilomar on Ocean Blvd or maybe it's Avenue(?).The Fishwife has excellent fish, oysters and drinks.
Me too Fair. So much to see in the USA. I want to start with the Southwestern states and continue west to northwest.
I don't travel much except for Chicago, Boston and to the beaches in the Florida area and Hilton Head, SC. (Because the chief likes it and it is an easy/short drive) But When the Chief told me We are going out to get her sister in Seattle for personal reasons and move her to Atlanta with us------We made a 10 day trip out of it and while Chief was helping Sis pack I got a chance to rent a car and explore the Pacific Northwest! Seattle and the surrounding area/states including Vancouver were absolutely beautiful. I could easily live in Seattle. For me the prettiest city I have ever been to in USA hands down. I still would live to see San Diego and San Francisco. Naples, Florida also very beautiful in winter. I really want to see Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Maybe when they get a little older. 3 kids all under 10, all they want to do is go to the beach or an amusement park. I will go one day but I have to drive because I have a huge fear of flying. I avoid it at all costs, maybe that is why I don't travel except for places I can drive to in a day.
