Those of you who have found relief taking antivirals, do you still experience hyperacusis? I suffer from time to time with ear fullness and balance issues and have taken antivirals to help, which it does. What I have trouble getting rid of is loud tinnitus and hyperacusis. Even the refrigerator sounds loud. I was just wondering if others have this same lingering issue.
I had a laby 3 years ago and I still have tinnitus and hyperacusis issues. I have learned to live with it. I try to avoid loud places. I make sure I sit with my "dead" ear near a wall. The louder the room the louder the tinnitus and then the sensitivity kicks in. The good news is I know my limits and just plan accordingly.
I'm on the anti-virals, and they did end the major vertigo, but my hyperacusis hasn't gone anywhere. Still a problem. It's like my brain knows I'm partly deaf and so it listens harder for the other frequencies it can hear and thus when they get too loud, it hurts my ears. Deaf, but sensitive hearing. FUBAR.
Benzos are known to cause hyperacusis. Not sure if you're taking any, but if you are, they might be the culprit.
