I had a drop attack yesterday fell going to bathroom put a hole in wall. I am armed with the antivarel paperwork to take to DR today. I am willing to give it a try hoping DR will be open to it.

Good luck - important thing (to me) to stress is that there should be no concerns about negative health impact. If dr is concerned he could do baseline bloodwork and you agree to come in every 3 months or so to make sure no issues with kidney/liver. Also, even IF he/she does not believe it will work - press that they don't have anything else so WHY NOT try it?

Make sure to have them follow the initial dosing regimen though because if they start the dose too small, it won't be effective.

I was armed with the paperwork showed the DR and he said no to the anti viral s. He does not believe in this. I called my pcp and set up a appt to see if I can get them through her. I am so frustrated.

Most ENTs are narrow minded idiots. Sorry Cher you might have better luck with your PCP. Fingers crossed!

I get my antivirals from PCP as my ENT refuses to even hear about the research. Dr Gacek says he's "uninformed", I think he's just an idiot!

I went to my ENT this week and he scoffed when my husband told him about antivirals. He told me I'd better be glad my GP wrote the prescription bc there is no way he would write it. He knew who Dr Gacek was. He literally laughed at us, even though I told him how they had helped so many. He tried to pry and get my Drs name but I wouldn't tell.

ENTs who refuse to do this are not uninformed. They are greedy crooks. They stand to lose a lot of money from this treatment, so they refuse to participate.

We should name and shame them and write reviews on their Google search sites, etc.

That is absolutely awful. I am so sorry. Have you written to Dr. Gacek? I think sometimes he's prescribed. Keep looking, you will find someone sensible to help. Maybe tell us what part of the world you are in and one of us will know someone. In the meantime the Lysine and all the JOH recommendations help many of us. I think Lysine is a big help, so yes, get going. So sorry about the drop attack, too. How scary.

Honestly, if it were me and if I was not able to get a dr to try anti-virals - AND I had a drop attack....I would be telling the dr that I need to go into surgery immediately either for VNS or Laby. Period. That will stop the vertigo and drop attacks. I would take back control of my life.

The problem is I am bilateral. He won't destroy the balance nerves in my right ear cause the balance nerves in my left is pretty much gone. My right is doing all the work and he said I would be on a walker. I can't seem to get him to think outside the box with antivirals. I want a gent injection in right ear to calm down these drop attacks and vertigo can't get that either. I am looking for a different DR but he is the best in my area.

But, devil's advocate, clearly he is NOT the best because he is not helping you in any fashion. You might be better seeing ANYONE other than him that might at least try - a/v for sure (not sure if a general dr could/would agree to gent shots).
