:( I tell you, one has to 'ask'--'something else has to be going on'!
I now have my thyroid in the 'normal range' (had hoped when that happened that part of what I'm dealing with would ease), but actually I feel worse!
I asked my doctor if he thought I should get a 'neuro consult'. He agreed.

I have seen two in the past 4 years. Had MRI's x 2 and of course neuro exams--but lately the lightheadedness doesn't ease except when I go to bed for the night and is back within and hour when I get up! Stays with me all day--at times easing some, but it makes 'no sense' to me that --this is still going on.
Causes anxiety really badly---and the Xanax helps a short time. I sometimes think I should go off all my meds and start back, one at a time to see if I get better and at what point I get worse (if I do) when going back on the ones I really need--like for high b/p and hypothyroidism and otc meds like calcium, and Vit. D and Vit. B!

Now I have the thyroid issue under control but since the meds are new to me, I wonder if they are making me worse. The Pharmacist said truly she thinks the generic doesn't cause any problems but some patients insist on the Brand name and say they feel better--so even if it's a 'placebo' effect, it might be worth a try. I may do that.
Still thinking on that. Some 'user reviews' even on the brand name are not promising for Synthroid--instead of the generic, Levothyroxine.
It just makes 'no sense' that one would feel dizzy when upright--all the time. And it makes you feel shaky and at times quite nauseated. No vertigo--alot of tinnitus at times. And hearing seems 'off ' at times even with bilateral hearing aids.
Just sounding off. Alot going on here at Christmas and probably stress adding to it--good stress and bad, but 'alot'! Hope all of you are able to have a good Christmas! :)

I disagree with what she said about the generic brand. Did you read my post with facts stating what happens with generics? If not you should its backed up by science.
As the articles states the inactive ingredients which varies in generics can change the way you absorb the drug, get too much of it or too little, that's why with a drug like synthroid its best to take the brand name.

My suggestion is to try the brand name for 2 months and see if there is any difference, since you are feeling worse since taking the generic synthroid.

If its not the generic after testing the brand then it could be MAV acting up.

I think the pharmacist may have something on generics for Synthoid. I recently went through this with my doctor. I will be on Synthroid for life as I have no thyroid due to thryoid cancer. My Endocrinologist wants me on Synthroid (no generic). He recently changed my doseage and sent the new script to the pharmacy. I usually bring a written script to the local Naval base and I get Synthroid there. However, the insurance company we use would only cover generic at a regular pharmacy. Because I had cancer my doctor wants me on Synthroid and not generic because when they make generic not all of the tablets are made exactly the same. So we had to go through lots of redtape with my insurance company to get approval for the "real thing". My sister also had thryoid cancer and her doctor only wants her on Synthroid, no generic version.

I meant to say the pharmasist may not be correct with what she says about generic Synthroid.

Well, it sounded to me like she was leaving the door open since really you can't tell--for certain--that you feel better due to being on the brand name or if it is a 'placebo effect'. To me, the real thing is--if you feel better--that's the 'point'! :)
But--I also have the same question sent to my mail in pharmacist. I feel if I get two pharmacists to comment, I may get a better 'handle' on whether I want to try the brand name for awhile. The thing is, as I said, I checked 'user reviews' on WebMD and found many of those folks--in fact most--had bad side effects from the brand name--or didn't feel better. So, either just the people wanting to complain posted, or there is something to it. Thanks for your input. I have to weigh all of what I'm researching and do appreciate your comments. :) The last few days my dizziness has been significant! And I feel really 'anxious', sort of like anxiety going on but usually that only lasts a short time, where this is lasting longer and comes on unexpectedly and today I even had a bout of diarrhea--so, is it something I ate or something 'in addition' to what's going on with me? I have 'no idea'. It is just soooo disturbing though! I am pretty wiped out but have been on the go alot today anyway. I was so glad to get home and rest.
