Hi everyone, I am fairly new to this forum! I just need to know there's light at the end of this tunnel. I am feeling extremely miserable everyday due to the constant aural fullness present in my left ear and it just won't go away for days now! In the past whenever I am having an episode, the pressure in my left ear always go away in 1-2 days. I am just so scared that the fullness will be present in my ear forever! Does anyone have any recommendation on how to relief the pressure in my ear? My doctor has recommended that having the intratympanic steroid injection would be another option if the prednisone failed. I had my first episode of aural fullness in my left ear about 7 years ago. I went to the doctor and was prescribed diuretics and was put on the low sodium diet of 1500 mg of less per day and it seems to work fine after 2 months and the pressure in my left ear went away for about 2 years. Had another episode of aural fullness 3 years ago. Saw 2 different doctors (UCI, Cedars Sinai) and was finally referred to the House Ear Clinic to get treatment with Dr. Derebery and I was diagnosed with Cochlear Hydrops (cuz I don't have the vertigo and dizziness). Was put on Prednisone for 10 days and diuretics for a month. The aural fullness came and went away within 1-2 days and after 2 months of fluctuating pressure in my left ear, the pressure finally went away for 2-3 years again. Recently, in October, the aural pressure came back in my left ear. I immediately put myself on a low sodium diet of between 200-300 mg a day while taking triamterene 37.5. They seem to work ok for me in relieving the pressure in my left ear. Although there are some really bad day when I ate a more-saltier food (but still under 1500mg), then the aural pressure would immediately come back the next day. However, I would restrict myself from eating and the pressure would go away in a day. I even started treatment to align my upper vertebrate. I did my own research and a lot of people recommend seeing Dr. Hall to fix your upper vertebrate claiming that it would treat meniere diseases. I had then 4 sessions as of last week. However, the past sunday, I made a big mistake of eating out even though I specifically asked for "NO SALT" added meal. I woke up on Monday and the pressure in my left ear just started intensifying and getting worse and worse. I then went back to see Dr. Derebery yesterday and was prescribed to take 30mg of predisone each day for the next 5 days and then by the 6th day, i will need to slowly lower the mg of prednisone. Even though I took 30mg of Predisone yesterday (30mg only because the doc said I only weight 100 lbs), today I woke up not really any better, instead, it feels the pressure has gotten worse and worse. The doctor-on -all just told me to keep taking the prednisone and see what happens. I just don't know how I can live another day with such intense aural fullness present in my ear. I cannot carry on my normal daily activities. Does anyone have any recommendation to relieve the aural fullness? Thank you all for reading my message

Avoid red peppers and anything that Creates inflamation such as dairy too Feel better , Lisa
I had the Dr put in a tube in my ear to help with the pressure a great deal. I don't know if it works for everyone but I noticed a difference.
Have you tried doing Vestibular Rehab Tberapy? I used to be fine between vertigo attacks. One day I started getting brainfog and fullness and all that other fun stuff. My ENT sent me to a vrt therapist who showed me the exercises to do. She said it wont stop the vertigo, but it can help with the other symptoms. It took a couple of weeks but I was back to normal. She said vertigo attacks damage your nerve and can sort of unsync your ears. The exercises train your brain to get your good ear to compensate, and you can get back to normal. I still do them as a tune up whenever I start getting those symptoms again.
Hi everyone, Thanks so much for all your recommendation. I went to see Dr Hall (upper vertebrate) yesterday around 5pm last night to get my C1 and C2 adjusted and miraculously, the aural fullness in my left ear is 80 % gone when I woke up this morning. I highly suggest for anyone who has the same symptoms as me to get their Upper vertebrae adjusted! It works like a miracle!
:'( Aural fullness in my left ear came back yesterday morning and have progressively gotten worse and worse!!! I just can't figure out what's causing the attack. I have completely eliminated table salt and any kind of sauce from my diet. I stopped eating breakfast and lunch, and at night, I would only eat cooked onion, rice, ground beef and veggies but the aural pressure just won't go away completely. The longest I've gone without any ear pressure is only 3 days!! I also started the JOH regimen last week (Only taking 3000 mg Lysine now) but will add in bioflavnoids next week I will go back to my doctor next week and ask for Antiviral. I might even see if she would recommend piercing a hole in my ear drum to help relief some pressure in my inner ear or prevent the pressure from comingback..my ear is so FULL!! I have to catch a plane back home in about 3 hours. I hope it's not going to worsen my symptom :-X Have a great weekend everyone and hope everyone feels better and better everyday!! 8)
In feb I had constant fullness it lasted 3 months Straight for me it was my thyroid . I still Get ESP if I eat too much sweets. Try a steriod Intratypanic injection that might help too Feel better
Pressure finally went away on Saturday morning and my ear has been good since then! I hope it will keep this way for awhile. I also cut all sweet from my diet...been eating really bland food for the past 2 days! I'm also on my 2nd week of the JOH regimen... Hi Lisa - my ENT doesn't suggest the steroid injection if there's no loss in hearing and she said the injection might make me become sensitive to pressure..so I might experience more pressure!! Hi Karen - have you taken any anti viral? Does it help relieving the pressure??
I wonder if the thyroid does contribute to the aural fullness. My levels have been off, and my doseage has recently changed. My ear has been full for over a week now. I had a blood test today to check my levels, so I'm very interested in the outcome.
My daughter in law gave me the essential oil frankincense. It doesn't make the vertigo go away, but it helps me with the aural fullness. I just apply a drop or two directly behind and under my ear (not in my ear). Some people claim it helps with vertigo, but it does not help with mine. However, it does make the annoying fullness in my ear go away.
I find it pretty much impossible to find a solid link between food consumption and aural fullness. It just seems to happen at random. And go away at random too. I try to avoid most fast food because almost all of them contain MSG which I suspect as a trigger but I can't say that I have ever found a close correlation with salt intake or sugar or caffeine and I certainly have tried. Antiviral pills do have a strong positive effect for me, I suspect I will be taking them forever, as long as I can get them, which is always a worry.
Jaw problems can contribute to ear fullness. If you have jaw pain, clicking, creaking, ear pain and fullness, then TMJ problems could be to blame.
Hi.....I don't mean to dampen your spirits, but we are all different with this disease. I'm bilateral, and have had MM for 14yrs now. My (R) ear is the worst, as that's where I had all my treatments, surgeries, etc. I was told by my specialist that the fullness would never go away, and for me, it never has. It's there 24/7, 365. Just being honest here, and like I say, we are all different in the way that we react with this disease, whether it be meds, or other forms of treatments. I've just had to learn to live with mine. I sincerely hope that you can get your fullness settled. Take care!
I really feel bad for you. I remember those days and the only thing that made the fullness go away was a really good vertigo attack. Hard to believe but back then I would pray for an attack just to get rid of the fullness. I have no advice for you just know that I wish you well.
Update: I am currently traveling in China right now. When I first landed, I had a mild aural fullness even thought I only ate fruit platter on the plane and did not consume any salty food. I went to see a traditional Chinese doctor and was prescribed some Chinese herbal medicine to drink 3 times a day! After 1 dose of medicine, the aural fullness went away and I've been taking it for over 10 days and started eating restaurant food on day 4 and I'm happy to say, the aural fullness did not returned since I started drinking the medicine (I did not take any other medicine other than the Chinese herbal medicine) Hope you guys can give it a shot and go see a traditional Chinese doctor- it might help!
