Has anyone had any adverse reactions to l-lysine? What dose did you take?

Anti-virals have worked for me, but i'd like to try l-lysine as well to see if i can cut back on the Valtrex more. If i can replace a drug with a natural amino acid, that would be great.

    Scott,

    Read the lysine information here:
    http://www.zoominternet.net/~kcshop/JOH.pdf

Lysine and antiherpetic drugs can be used at the same time, increasing chances of relief. Your best chances are when using both the drug and the lysine together. Adding all the other components of the cited regimen is even more advantageous.

I got extremely light headed from lysine, I am afraid to take it now.

Scott, I have been on lysine for a long time, no adverse reactions, take with water and don't eat anything for at least 30 minutes.

Has anyone tried Lysine powder? I hate taking those huge pills.

I tried tapering my Famvir and adding Lysine - didn't work at all for me. Now I just take my Famvir and forget about it.

Anyone else notice that you respond to one brand more than another?? I find Solgar 1000 mg Free Form the best for me>

I have transitioned to powder since I also get tired of all the pills. The Now brand seems to be working okay.

Wanted to report that I just got a recommendation from a genuine doctor (otology & neurotology) to take 200 mg twice a day of Vitamin B2. We have ordered some. This doctor had not heard of Dr. Gacek's report, but my local ENT kindly forwarded it to him before my appt. Both doctors (following Dr. Gacek's protocol) are instructing me to cut back from 3 to 2 grams of Valtrex per day. All the more important to keep up with the lysine and all of the JOH regimen!
