    Thank you, everyone.

About three weeks ago I dropped down to (1) 1,000 mg of valacyclovir as my maintenance dose. Seems to be working.

Congratulations, Santa!! Do you mind describing your "woozies"? I have been on valtrex for several months and do get some quick but intense vertigo episodes. I would like to hear your experience. Also, when did you cut down to 2,000 mg per day? I am still at the full dose and tried to cut down once but it did not go well. Thanks for your help!!

They say that Christmas only comes round once a year, just like the anniversary of your last spin! God bless your little helpers (the Valtrex pills). ;)

    Thanks again everyone!

the whoozies I get are not as bad as they used to be. When I used to feel a whoozie coming on I got the uh-oh feeling of oh, crap, vertigo is trying to kick in. It was like light-headed-ness. But, almost dipping into that feeling that comes out of nowhere buts hits everywhere from the back of the neck up through the brain, eyes and ears. However; the whoozie wouldn't last more than a couple of minutes.

Now the whoozies I get only last a matter of seconds. And I don't get the uh-oh feeling.

It was several months ago- about 6- when I tried to taper off from 3,000 per day to 2,000. So, I was on 3,000 for about 9 months before I was ready to try tapering. I was just to scared of having vertigo to taper. But, even then I would go back to 3,000 when I felt a little weak. It was only three weeks ago that I went to 1,000 per day.

MUFF- what do you mean by- "quick but intense vertigo episodes."

I have been on Valtrex for 15 months now. It about 3.5 when I had the last vertigo.

I am not doing any other supplements for meneires. I do take Glusomene, Chondroitin, MsM and tumeric for finger and joint pain. I am a guitar player. I play 3-6 hours per day. My fingers get sore if I don't take those supplements.

I am also 62 years old.

However; I do think everything in JOH's regimen is beneficial.

    Good Health to Everyone!!

Thanks so much, Santa, for detailing your "woozies" and your Valtrex dosage journey! I really appreciate it!
When I get vertigo, it happens quickly. My head starts to feel full and a bit off and then within seconds (I guess you could call it the uh-oh feeling), I feel like I am being thrown to the ground, spinning quickly around. Fortunately, when I do feel that pre-vertigo feeling for a few seconds before, I immediately sit down wherever I am, and the intense spinning begins. It kind of reminds me of being on the Disney Tea Cups ride- very, very fast spinning around and around. It is impossible to stand or walk. Anyway, these episodes have become shorter since starting Valtrex and I wondered if they will ever totally disappear? It's good to hear that it took you 3.5 months to have your vertigo disappear. I was getting worried as I have been on the highest dosage for about 4 weeks (after trying to cut down) and was previously on the highest dosage for 4 weeks before that. Your story confirms that I need to stay on the highest dose to see if these episodes totally diminish.

Thanks again for sharing your success story ;D

    Wonderful news! Happy anniversary, Santa!

Also, I'm glad to hear that you were able to get down to 1,000 mg, but needed to spend a long time on 3,000 mg. I have not been able to go below 2,500 mg for more than a couple weeks, but I realize now that I had a setback with a generic brand that wasn't as effective for me (Cadista). I'm back on the generic that works better for me (Ranbaxy), and it's nice to think that maybe someday I will be able to reduce the dosage.
