Hello everyone , I read on here people having success with Gent injections. I have a few questions about it. What if the other ear gets Mienere's what then ? Would the person be unable to walk ? Thank you , AEC
There is little evidence that gentamicin injections do anything more than suppress overt Meniere's symptoms. If there is a microbe responsible for those symptom --- for which there is now overwhelming evidence --- this antibiotic won't be of much use. The causative agent for the vast majority of Meniere's cases is a herpes virus infection of the affected inner ear or its associated adjunct nerves. If that virus's activity can be suppressed or terminated, symptoms will be markedly or completely reduced, and chances for infection into the remaining good ear are minimal. Two agents suppress herpes viruses, the amino acid lysine, and a prescription antiherpetic drug.
