So....I ended up in Urgent Care on Saturday. Tested positive for Flu - type A ("unfortunately the more aggressive type") and bronchitis. I went in early enough that I qualified for the Tamiflu which shortened the duration of the symptoms for the flu portion. Between the two, they were a huge double whammy. Definitely they kicked my butt.

BUT made it through it all with no vertigo attacks. Something positive!

(don't wish that type a flu on anyone! combined with bronchitis...miserable)

That's great news...about the vertigo! I recently made it through a bad cold with only my usual daily dizziness but no big attacks! Maybe God knows when we've got all we can handle!

    Great!

I find high dose Vitamin C helps beat back colds and flu.

that's great news nicmger, but sorry to hear how sick you were. How nice though not to have to deal with vertigo when you are so ill.

Nothing prevents colds and flu better than sufficient vitamin D-3. Take a minimum of 5000IU per day and chances of getting colds or flues drops dramatically or disappears altogether.

For best results, because they are vitamin D co-factors, also take vitamin K-2 and a magnesium supplement.

Vicki - yes it was nice to not have the extra worry about spinning!
JOH - I do take D supplement. Interesting is that I have not had the flu in over 20 years! I do catch normal colds, etc, but most of that I believe is connected to my sinus issues. I rarely run a fever. Which is why I knew I had to get to the dr on Sat last week. LOL

Nicmger, but how much vitamin D-3 do you take? 5000 IU per day is an absolute minimum required to get serum vitamin D levels up to the effective serum minimum of 30 ng/ml. You may need 7000 IU or so. Typical amounts of 1000 or 2000 IU simply will not adequately support the immune system's ability to disable flu and cold viruses.
