if my sister in law is not talking then the dam parrot is. One has to go this week and according to the Chief it will be the Parrot.

it stays in the sun room/porch and is 6 years old (the chief gave it to me for my 40th birthday gift because she felt i needed someone or something to talk to on my own level) ----- the bad thing is you will have to will it to your loved ones because it has a life span of like 65-75 years.

We will be having a good bye party for Pecker on Wednesday and off to the zoo it goes on Thursday.

Lesson learned here........no matter how much you want one, never get a parrot!!

BD I can relate...my youngest son had an amazon parrot. When it was time for my son to go off to college I told him either you take the parrot with you or it will not be here when you come home for break. That parrot was the most annoying pet that ever lived in our home. Blake did not take the parrot to college with him and it was not in the house when he returned!!

LOL, Res, you go girl, lol!!

We had TWO damned Cockatoos in the early days of our marriage. They were kind of small whEn we first got them but they huge full grown.
We could handle them so that was fun but you couldn't give them full rein or there'd be birdshot everywhere. We got these posts for them and they sat well except for the friggin squawking. They did learn some words.
At night we had this huge cage to put them in and we kept that in our spare room that was wood panels...just guess where this goes...we woke up in the morning and the friggin birds got out of the cage.
The chewed the wood window sills AND some of the paneling...you know how 2 sheets meet? They got them and had a party.
I nearly passed out I swear. I couldn't imagine 2 birds could tear a room up.

We found a ho,e for them real quick and never looked back.

They're fabulous pets for people with a lot of time, patience, and be skilled in training.
Ear plugs might be nice, too.

NOT a fan of birds as pets.

I have a cat so a bird probably would not be such a good ideal.

I RAISED THREE PARROTS, TWO CONURES AND A QUAKER. ALL THREE TALKED. THEY WERE OCCASIONAL SQUAKERS BUT USUALLY QUITE QUIET. YES, ALL THREE WERE POTTY TRAINED. WITH A LIILE LOVE AND PATIENCE, BIRDS ARE DELIGHTFUL PETS.

HOWEVER, DO YOUR HOMEWOK BEFORE INVESTING IN A BIRD. COCKATOOS, NO WAY, LOL!!! ALL THREE ARE PASSED AWAY NOW AND MISSED SO VERY MUCH.

WOULD I START OVER AGAIN? NEVER!!! 39YEARS WAS ENOUGH!!! ;)

It's because birds are meant to be outside. I have 2 cockatiels. They are messy. They get dust and keratin dander all over everything. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment and they've basically taken control over one room. They yell. They throw their seeds all over the room. Their cage needs to be cleaned constantly.

I didn't realize all of this when I got them as a naive 21 year old right out of college. I know now that having parrots as pets is one of the worst ideas humans have ever had. It's sad. I feel bad for the parrots most of all.
