We all know that allergies can affect our Menieres symptoms.
There are so many allergy medications out there it's hard to figure out what's best for you.
I asked my husband why I have so many different kinds of allergy meds and he said because every time I take one I complain that it makes my heart race so I try another.

Since I am symptomatic I really don't want to play around with different meds. My big thing is that the heart racing, trembling is such a bad experience for me.
This is the second morning I've woken up with a runny nose, tearing, and feeling nauseous from all of the mucus.

I'm coming to the experts for advice.
This also may be helpful for newbies.

I don't take anything with the "D" as it makes it more likely for me to have an attack.
I like the Mucinex 12 hr. Also I use Flonase spray.
Nasal Rinse might be a good option for you - if you keep everything more clear than perhaps you won't have as many issues?

I think the MSM is really helping me with my allergies this year. In past years I've taken Quecetin, but this year I'm just going with the MSM and I think it really helps.

I also have a spoonful of raw local honey daily. I'm not convinced it is helping, but it is delicious.

For acute moments like you describe (ones that come up after I work in the garden, for example), I take freeze-dried nettle. I've had good success with that.

I am also drinking nettle infusion most days for a variety of reasons, but it is probably helping the allergies, too.

Like you, I have had disturbing side effects from over-the-counter medications, such as heart racing and extreme drowsiness, so I avoid them.

My OTO advised me to take Allegra. So far, so good.
Not all congested when I woke up. No eyes tearing and no nauseous news.
    One thing down.

Does anyone know where to find something posted on the board called, "Before you judge me?"

I've looked and can't find it.

    Thank you very much.

I'm helping my daughter do a paper for mid-term.
The upshot is that she's learning a lot more about Menieres.
I'm enjoying helping her so much.

    Bea,

If you haven't already, you might want to look in the old forum archives at the database section. So much good information there. It should help a lot.

BumbleBea, do you consume milk, cheese or any other dairy?

I had allergies in the past, mainly sneezing and runny nose. I read on multiple forums that some people stopped having allergies once they cut out dairy foods.
I did that and the allergies went away. I went dairy free for more than a year, recently I've been having more and more dairy, mainly organic yogurt or kefir and it hasn't come back.

    Pro zeal,
My allergies are related to seasonal allergies.

I'm not big on any of the above.
The Allegra has already kicked in and it's good.

Yep mine was seasonal too, every summer I'd get hit with runny nose and sneezing my brains out.

Doesn't help Menieres at all. Just makes the head and ear pressure worse. As well as the tinnitus.

Today, so far, I haven't had any of it.
    I'm so relieved.

Check out the PurMist personal humidifier. My allergies aren't as severe as others but it seems to have helped the last year or so. Also, helping to open up the sinuses might relieve some of the overpressure feeling. It's a little on the expensive side but not crazy and many people have said it helped their allergies without having to take medications.

Before anyone asks, yes I have one. No I don't work for the company. :)
