Vicki, have you heard from bulldogs? Hope he's doing ok. I'm just about to start making lunch and he came to mind. He's half way through. When you talk to him, give him my best. Thanks Maggie
hey Maggie, yup I just heard from him a day or 2 ago, he is doing well, he's busy but doing his charity diet. Maybe he will post soon.
Thanks, Vicki, Looks like today is is worst menu day. Hope he enjoyed that Costco Hot dog and pop last night. Maggie
aww I just heard from BD, he's feeling weak and light headed, I suggested he drink some sugar water. That should stay within his budget. I hope he can make it one more day but if not he did great! and I consider the fact he went this long a victory. I am sure he can hold out another few hours. Fingers crossed for you Joe!
That's a bummer. Not surprising because he was getting no nourishment and very little protein. Sugar water would maybe help as it would elevate his blood sugar. Can't imagine how people really live like that. M
Well well well it is 11:00 on Thursday night and I am still hanging in there.....BARELY A few thoughts. I feel I was duped by the Chief and SIL as they are doing it as well. Live Below the Line according to the charity is living on 1.50 or less a day. So every morning SIL or Chief would put $ 1.50 on the table every morning for me to live off. It was usually 6 quarters (for those of you that can't count that is 1.50). for 5 days/week it is 7.50 I took my $1.50 every morning and had to make it work. I went to the grocery store and bought 1 banana, 1 cup of oatmeal pack or a Campbell Soup. But I never could spend more than 1.50 for that day. I am still hanging in there but feel light headed and no energy. I suspect I have been living on about 300-500 calories a day and I am not a little person at 6'2. I cannot determine if I feel this way because maybe it is mm related or the fact my body is eating itself for fuel. I have lost about 7 lbs as I continues to exercise. If I still feel this way at midnight or in the morning I am going to get a Coke and big candy bar as it may be low sugar ect...... I was duped because I found out SIL and Chief pulled their money together and bought groceries for the week. They also clipped coupons for buy one get one free stuff like Ice Cream. So they went to store on Sunday night and bought large oatmeal container, popcorn and 2 half gallons of buy one get one free ice cream and bananas. I CALL BULLSHIT!!! Living on 1.50 a day means here is 1.50 every morning and try to get buy. What they did is not right. Also I have discovered a great appreciation importance for agriculture/irrigation and growing crops and farming in poor countries. If I could grow and produce my own food it would be a lot easier. But I guess in those countries growing and sustaining crops with water is a big issue. Famine and drought is no joke for these people. So, I feel awful, maybe mm, dehydration, maybe low sugar maybe my body is cleansing itself of all my preservatives. Who knows but If I don't make it until tomorrow at 5 I will have a big ass coca cola and big ass snickers bar/maybe 2 but I can say either way I lived on less than 10.00 for a week for food. When you wake up hungry and all you see is 6 quarters on the table for food for the day it gives you a new perspective how 1.2 billion people live on this earth each day. Thats 7.50 for a 5 day week. Not sure I will make it but I will do it on about 10.00 for the week if I go for the Coke and candy bar/s late tonight or tomorrow morning if I still feel light headed. If you have a roof over your head and food on the table be thankful, you are doing better than most of the world. Peace
I don't think it's MM related at all. You lost fluids, you're probably dehydrated, and not giving your body the fuel it needs to function. AND it could be dangerous and you'll be in the ER. I told you before! Publicly I'll say I really think you could do it. Your commitment and self-control are commendable. The country is changing and the parts that go are what this country was about. (Not meant as a political statement) Farming is almost obsolete compared to what it used to be. We have so many food pantries in our town and they get cleaned out every week. It's very sad.
I am so proud of you Joe. and what a sad thing it is to think some people actually have to live this way. See if your wife can get her hands on a glucose meter and check your blood sugar. Stop when you feel like you are getting ill. Your feeling that way could be due to any of those things. You immune system I'm sure is weakened from lack of good nourishment, which effects MM, if you did not drink enough water it could be dehydration which also effects MM. It could be low blood sugar as well or all or some of these things. The most important thing is don't let it go too far that you feel sick. I have charities I make sure to donate to when I can, I donate food to our local food bank here, to several dog rescues, to war veterans and to medical research for certain diseases and always help friends out when needed. But after reading about your charity diet I am going to donate to Below The Line as well . Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
