I'm seeing my neurologist again in a week and going to ask him for MAV meds to see if that would help, since I have a lot of MAV symptoms.
My monitor is pretty old BenQ LCD and I'm suspecting it's adding a lot to my floaty on the boat sensation. It's maxes at 60hz refresh rate. I've researched today with too many conflicting information of what one should use if they have migraines which I assume would be good enough for MAV. Some say high refresh rates like 144hz helps and for it to have flicker free technology. What are you guys using that allows you to work 6-8 hrs a day comfortably?

mine also is 60 hz refresh rate but I turn down the brightness a bit until the glare doesn't bother my eyes. But the PC and TV never really seemed to effect me unless I bring on symptoms from other triggers. Like eating too many MAV trigger foods and reaching my threshold.

I even game. I have been gaming for years and host game servers until recently and I don't get dizzy or bothered by them except one game years ago Unreal Tournament made my eyes tear terribly I couldn't play it.

there is a lot of info on this subject on mvertigo.org and there are also certain colored glasses that help with MAV and monitors, I think a blue lens but cant be sure.

Unreal tournament I used to play that a lot with a friend back in the day! I hardly game anymore because it makes me dizzy, nervousness or stress brought on by the playing the game especially brings about more floatyness so I've stopped.

I guess it doesn't have any effect on you what monitor you use which is nice. My brightness is very low as well as well as contrast, however when I come to read text and such I have a real hard time. I work on the computer at home for my business as well but my productivity has substantially been affected since I can only tolerate so much of reading on this monitor given the MAV/menieres .

I will check mvertigo again to see what they say.

By the way if anyone has eyestrain from computer use you can check out a free but popular software called "F.lux" that reduces blue light at night and transitions it to yellow tint based on your location and sunset times at your location. This helps make looking at the monitor is easier on the eyes. Apparently blue light is not good for the eyes at night and disrupts sleeping patterns as well, with the yellow tint that problem is reduced. That's why they have yellow tinted glasses for heavy users.

Apple have jumped on board and recently introduced 'night shift' in an iPhone/iPad update...it works similar to f.lux and you can adjust the amount of blue light and also nominate a a time for it to switch on.

I would look into getting a pair of gunnar computer glasses, you can also get them with prescription, Also Duco do over glasses that fit on top of your prescription glasses

@onehorse - Yes they did, but it's for the latest iPhones and iPads at least.

@upgrader - Have you tried the f.lux software? It does the same thing except its' free and you don't have to wear glasses. You can set daylight hours to be yellow tinted as well.

I hope you get back to where you can game again. I love it. Ive been playing a steam mod for the last 5 years. It's alot of fun.

I hope you find a way to be on the pc w/o it triggering your MAV.

Thanks, being on the PC is much more important to me these days, I rather get work done and be able to research. For games I had bought a nintendo wii u with mario maker but had to stop that, that's what I would play today if I could comfortably. The levels can get very creative and also challenging.

Thanks Upgrader, seems like those are not available in Canada and they don't ship from the US to Canada either so I might have to try a different brand.

Its also possible to get wrap around sunglasses and get a custom computer blue blocking lens put in them, the Nike ones are quite good
