I started on anti-viral almost three weeks ago. I am close to going on two doses a.day. The first two weeks I felt a lot better. The third week not as great. He wants me.to take two doses for three weeks and.one dose from then on. I will see him in nine weeks. I know we have had a discussion on here before about mg. My do as was 2400 mg for three weeks, 1600 for three weeks and 800 from then on. The only time it goes to 3000 mg is if my dosages fail, right?

Based on your dosage amounts, it sounds like you are taking acyclovir. I personally would advise switching to valacyclovir, as it is reported to be more effective.

I also would not reduce from the max dose until you are feeling better for a week or so. If you reduce now, you may not have beaten the virus down enough to go on the maintenance doses, and you will relapse.

Thanks for the information. It definitely wiped.out the vertigo but some dizziness is starting to creep in.

Most of us who experience that bump up the meds for awhile to suppress the symptoms.
