I am wondering if anyone has symptoms like this which both my brother with Meniere's and I have. It is a deep pain just below the ear that comes and goes. Can stay for hours or minutes. Both of us have mentioned this to our family doctors but no comments or suggestions have been given. Is this symptomatic of Meniere's or is it possibly linked to something else? I have been on regimen (John of Ohio) for almost 4 weeks now. One vertigo spell is all I've had since starting. I am still not on all of the supplements yet as I am slowly adding one at a time. My ear is full and the sounds are still going on. Off balance at times. I just need to be patient I guess to see the full results. I am fearful of flying until I at least have a significant time pass with no spells. I travel at least once yearly but too afraid to do it right now.
Just three days ago I notice pain in my left ear. I would take and get a hold of my ear and fold it over. Terrible pain! I'd do it again and the pain was gone. But, after 20 mins later it was back. I have an app next week to have that check. Hope it's next to nothing. Hope it works out for you. Good luck!
Hey Paulatim, It could be the Sternocleidomastoid muscle: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1a/Sternocleidomastoideus.png
I do have pain both below my ears and.in my neck. I was told it is the result of the ears misfiring and sending those messages to the brain that the room is spinning. The pain I was told is the result of the brain telling the ears it is not. Is it true? I have no idea.
The sternocleidomastoid muscle is right where the pain occurs. Is there a connection between that and Meniere's?
There is a connection between that and vertigo. Some one provided a link at one point. You can google it.
It may not be Meniere's but perhaps it could be causing a problem similar to Menieres. I dug this video up that I came across a year ago which I haven't yet tried but it does bring some relief to neck pain and that exact spot you're talking about. The kid gets dizzy and does these massages, let us know if it helps you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RKcYxflT0s
Have you been evaluated for TMJD via a panoramic or 360 degree x Ray of your jaw? You should rule that condition out. You should consider joining the Menieres vertigo tinnitus TMJ private group on Facebook
Thanks so much for the replies. I googled sternocleidomastoid muscle and it could be that. I am going to try the massages for it and see if it helps. There are a lot of similarities with that and Meniere's. I just started this pain a couple of months ago and have had Meniere's for 3yrs. There could be many causes but I am going to look at some things I do that could cause this. I am on a computer for 8hr a day at work.
I have looked at the videos, Prozeal, and will try the techniques. Very interesting and good stuff. Thanks!
I did the massage that the video showed. Within 30 mins I came down with a full blown vertigo spell. I have to wonder if I did something that triggered that spell. But, I did wake up with loud ear sounds which seem to indicate a spell might be on its way in. Bad timing, probably. I was "off" all day yesterday (day after) but doing better today. It would have been day 18 had I not had the spell. Getting further apart which is good. Started J of O regimen April 7th. Something very troublesome happened and I need to find the cause. It appears I may have sleep walked last night though I have no recollection. I need to find if it is a side effect from something I am taking. I do take 10mg valium when I have a spell. My spell was Sunday 8:30am and the sleepwalk (or whatever) happened Monday night. I am quite worried over this so I need to find an answer.
Hey Paula, sorry to hear you had another vertigo attack after the massage on that video, but perhaps this is a clue that you got something going on in that area. Some people claim to be helped by NUCCA which is supposed to help the vertebra in the neck to get aligned and as Mustang has said TMJ issues.
Thanks, Prozeal. I am not sure what NUCCA is but will google it. I do have something going on with my neck. I have degenerative cervical spine and I really can't get adjustments anymore as I risk another breaking. I also will look up TMJ issues and see if it rings a bell. Thanks!
