had tried acyclovir a few times without success upped my dosage and after a month most symptoms had vanished felt good for about 3 mths and all symptoms have returned should I continue to take it? it's inexpensive and I still pop a 400mg pill every hr or 2 but it doesn't seem to do any good any more i'm so sick of taking pills geez been on the 98% john regime for yrs it's cheap and most of it is good for me anyway so I've continued it feel like flushing everything down the toilet and cutting my freaking ear off waiting for my serc to come in and start the high dosage with that more pills happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there
Hi Deadeye, if it isn't' helping you my suggestion is to decrease your dosage to see how you feel and if you don't feel worse decrease more and then more. You will know if the Av is making a difference or not and then you can make a better decision to stay or go off of it. I hope the serc comes soon!
thanks should be ready at walgreens the end of the week at least it gives me some hope placebo maybe for a few weeks? i'll take it!! ha i'm going to give it a couple of months and hope for the best
Many get relief from serc and it is given for MM in most other parts of the world Hope it helps you too!
I used it for a few years earlier had initial success(sound familiar) and it stopped working back then 3 16mg a day was considered a large dose I stayed on it for a long time and finally stopped it
I think for many of us MM comes when several things assault the immune system at once and we may have to treat all the agitating factors to get complete and permanent relief. Do you think a virus may be one of those things for you and there may be something else as well? For me it was allergy treatment and antivirals together that brought almost 6 years of relief. Is there anything else affecting your immune system that you can mitigate?
I took allergy shots or several yrs; always on Fridays because they usually made me feel like crap finally gave them up tested positive for everything in the air and food don't know where to start? appreciate any advice!
If you tested positive for gluten maybe try a gluten free diet or try the MAV/Migraine diet and see if you feel any better. or Try keeping a food log and write down foods you ate 24 hours before an attack had happened, you might see a pattern of a certain food or food group.
I hardly ever have severe attacks anymore maybe once a yr I just am off balance and feel like crap all of the time when I wake up in the morning and sit on the side of the bed and stand up I kind of know what kind of day i'm going to have or I can walk into the local walmart and know by how sick I get at my stomach walking around
Hi, What you described is very similar to what I experienced with Famvir. At first there was significant improvement and then after about 3 or 4 months it seemed to fade. The real improvement started when I underwent allergy testing at House clinic. Turns out that I'm very allergic to moist anything you can breath. I'm in my 4th year of allergy shots (not yet up to full strength on all allergens) and have not have any vertigo for more that 3 years. By the way, we stopped the Famvir last summer and there have been no ill effects at all. Good luck, John
Just reread some of the comments. I would add that the first first 5 or 6 shots really made me feel like crap. Bad to the point that I questioned whether or not I would be able to continue. Luckily, that was just a start-up effect and all the remaining shots have been none events (for me that is). Everyone is different - again, best of luck.
yeah i got them for several yrs and took them on fridays so i knew i'd feel like crap on the weekends
