Hi guys, I'm one the generic of Valtrex and still having side effects after being on it one month now. The manufacturer is Ranbaxy .Does anyone have any suggestion of another manufacturer and had no side effects? Do you think I should ask for a script for the brand name Valtrex? My doc wouldn't give me acyclovir because he said the dose was too high. I'm feeling hopeless a little and ear pressure and vertigo is horrible every single day.
Everybody has had success with North Star normally the generic brands don't work that well. Please keep us updated
Hi there, If you can get valtrex, get it. It's the best antiviral option there is. It's working better for me that valacyclovir.
My Dr just gave me a script for Valcyclovir with Northstar requested as the manufacturer. Still waiting for it as we have mail order for our 90 day scripts.
I'm new to the site, so please excuse me if this question has already been answered. For those with success from Valocyclovir, what is your dosage, and how long were you taking it before you saw a response? Is your maintenance dosage, after response, different than your initial dosage? thanks. Ann
I'm still waiting on express scripts, ironic, to get my new prescription for Valtrex and the dosage amount. I know she told me but I forgot.'im going to keep a daily log. A group of us starting any new form of Antivirals should start a thread with daily improvements, wishing, or lack thereof. I think that would be interesting for all of us.
I feel like a tired feeling and like drowsy . I thought is was my vision but it's no blurriness just , drowsiness . Like sedated .
AEC - Not sure what dose you are currently taking but let's assume you are on the 2x1000mg part of the protocol - not yet tapered to 1x day. Perhaps you could split the pills and take more often thru the day but less at "one time" and see if that helps. I did not feel more drowsy taking the med - I was already fatigued 24/7 so that was not a factor for me. I also wanted to mention that while many do experience relief from most/all of the daily symptoms of Meniere's with anti virals, I do not believe that a dr will expect the a/v to target those - it has been my understanding that the goal is to prevent/minimize the vertigo attacks. If you are not having as many vertigo attacks and/or if they are lower in severity or timespan, I would try to focus on that positive!
Wish it would/could be more insightful but this darn disease is so different for everyone. I do think splitting up the pills could be a good option to try. (Gosh knows they are big enough to split easily!)
However, during my remission due to Acyclovir I only experienced mild tinnitus from time to time. I was symptom free and now I'm not. Not at all and that fatigue, I have it so bad today my head felt like a bowling bowl, I couldn't seem to stay awake. I have about 2 hours in the morning that I don't feel it yet. But then I perform chores, slower than usual and after awhile the spin hits. Tonight I feel like I'm sitting in a boat while I'm sitting on my bed. Laying down has made it worse but then it settles. So I'm sitting up swaying so I can be here. I'm waiting on the Valcyclovir by Northstar any day. It was as if no one has ever asked my pharmacy for a particular manufacturer before.
Be a, think about the trauma vertigo is. No wonder we are fatigued. That is why we leave no stone unturned in pursuit of relief. I hope the new anti-virals work. I actually worry about what the anxiety I experience with this disease daily is doing to my body. How much stress can a body take. I hope a lot.
TY imback I hope you're feeling better today, too. I have 2 things I HAVE to do today. Take my daughter over to the college to register for classes and cook. That's it, just 2 things and I'm in bed and don't want to get up. I'm giving in and on the verge of giving up fighting it and just go with it like in the old days when all I did was stay in bed and hardly ever left the house. Stress? We all have it. Some more than others. They say how you cope with stress makes a difference. I don't believe that.
