Found some additional info that will help you along: http://www.ccfnj.org/?p=274 https://njmmp.nj.gov/njmmp/jsp/patientRegProcess.jsp http://www.state.nj.us/health/medicalmarijuana/pat_reg.shtml# http://www.state.nj.us/health/medicalmarijuana/pat_faqs.shtml Found a possible approved condition for you: "The following conditions apply, if severe or chronic pain, severe nausea or vomiting, cachexia or wasting syndrome results from the condition or treatment thereof: Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus Acquired immune deficiency syndrome Cancer" They sure as hell don't make it easy...Christ, they want everything there is to know about you aside from a sperm count! Honestly, I don't know if I'd be willing to go through all their BS.
I have a certified Dr who prescribes medical marijuana looking over my diagnosis and treatment. I'm using the following: Menieres Disease, drop attacks, panic attack disorder, depression, anxiety, and I'm bipolar. I'll find out if he'll be able to qualify me without having to go through that part of the procedure. If he can't get me on it, there's a good chance it won't be an option for others in a state that does not make medical marijuana legal. I've also researched what a dispensary would have and was able to choose one that should be right for me. I had some tonight and I stopped having that off balance, attack coming feeling. I have my fingers crossed.
Anyone with a medical card have a different recommendation as far as what they get at the dispensary?

The article is out-dated; makes no mention of the now overwhelming evidence that the majority of Meniere's cases (but not all) are caused by herpes virus activities in the inner ear and associated nerves. Cannabis has no demonstrated anti-herpetic effect. It might reduce or suppress Meniere's symptoms, but the root cause of the disease would remain. --John of Ohio
ly caused by the herpes virus. I must have missed this information that everyone is saying Menieres is caused by the herpes virus. Last medical professionals I spoke with didn't mention this.
If you get the right strain it can be beneficial. Maybe not as powerful as all of the benzos Drs prescribe to us and is not meant to "cure" or treat the disease itself but how many have tried how many treatments that gave them not even symptomatic relief. Who's to say what road cannibis will take with Menieres but I do know people with other ailments that it helps as well. I do not think cannibis should not be considered as treatment just because of the stigma surrounding the use of marijuana. Look at how many times a new treatment has been offered many but helped only a few or none. How many non-invasive treatments are "standardized" for the treatment of Menieres? We're still working on the Antivirals and that doesn't help everyone. I say "natural" treatments, meaning herbs and such, should not be discarded.' It makes you feel good too.
Read (as so many professionals have not) this peer-reviewed paper showing conclusively that Meniere's can be caused by herpes viruses, and when those viruses are therapeutically suppressed symptoms are markedly or completely reduced: http://www.mm3admin.co.za/documents/docmanager/6e64f7e1-715e-4fd6-8315-424683839664/00056616.pdf More comprehensive info here: http://menieres.org/talk/index.php?topic=557.0 Any claim, either by a "professional" or a lay person that Meniere's remains idiopathic (without known cause(s)) and is not caused by herpes viruses is demonstrably inaccurate, a medical falsehood. --John of Ohio
I never said it wasn't the herpes virus. If I believed that I wouldn't be taking Antivirals. I believe that Drs so easily hand out prescriptions to MM patients for "relief from symptoms." Mostly Benzos. Why not consider cannibis for the same relief?
Several reasons. 1. Still illegal in the majority of jurisdictions. 2. Unavailable in most states and cities. 3. Effective variety or cultivar or extract of Cannabis unknown, undocumented (with any peer-reviewed articles) for Meniere's. 3. No known effective dosages or durations for Meniere's. 5. Most physicians have no experience or expertise with any of the molecules in Cannabis. 6. Strong possibility of untoward and persisting, even degenerative side effects. 7. Because Cannabis or its derivatives do not suppress or destroy embedded herpes viruses, Cannabis therapy for MM would have to be chronic. Who knows the outcomes of this (beyond the financial) after any number of years? Cannabis has a multitude of undesirable effects and outcomes, beyond the putative suppression of Meniere's symptoms. --John of Ohio
Whatever gets you through the night 'salright, 'salright It's your money or life 'salright, 'salright Don't need a sword to cut through flowers oh no, oh no
John, Most of the things you addressed can be applied to many Drs treatment of Menieres. We will agree to disagree on this topic. Gustav, You know what I'm saying dude.
This is my first post here, not in the thread that I had intended to make my first post, but change is good, right? I've been reading for a couple of days and had other things to say, but after reading the last few postsI thought I would comment. I agree with the attitude of whatever gets you through, but if whatever gets you through is also the thing that does you in, then maybe there's a better option. Depending on where you are on your journey with the physical horrors you have to cope with, maybe it doesn't matter. I have seen with some of my students who are chronic users of cannibalize that it's not doing them any long term favors. They are using it recreationally, not medically, but the negative side effects are still acting on your body. I assume we are adults here and we can choose what we need to do to get relief. Just inform yourself before you take somebody's word on a proposed remedy.
PixieChick, Hi and welcome. You, my lady are exactly right! I am living it with my own son. It is a drug and can have negative consequences on our youth if it grabs hold of them and snaps the life out of them. I would never recommend anyone use anything that alters the way they feel if they can help it. That being said, for people with chronic health problems, cannabis can aid in so many ways. Sleep would have to be at the top of the list. Mood and worry stabilizer would have to come in second. Apathy is a wonderful thing for a sick person, not so much, for a healthy young person starting life and needing to prepare for a financial future. The best thing about the weed movement, is the multiple ways in which a person can use it. I prefer a vape pen loaded with indica oil, tucked under my mattress at night. I sleep very well and I never use it during the day, unless I absolutely have to. I hope this helps people who are considering using it.
That brings the Indica verses Sativa question. Indica seems to work well with me. Sativa knocks me on my ass. Pixiechick, Great to have you here! We all have differing opinions about so many topics. That's one of the things that makes this place so great. I get what you're saying about young adults using anything that alters their thoughts, i.e., recreationally. Medical marijuana is in a different class now that it is being used to help with people who suffer any number of symptoms. We will see it legalized, medically, everywhere before long. Dolfan, you carry that pillow around all day?
BumbleBea, Do I understand that you are saying medical marijuana is different than recreational marijuana . So does chronic use of medical mj not have the same detrimental side effects as the recreational? I'm not knowledgeable about the strains of mj. I just know what I see in my chronic user students and it's beyond sad. I like your avatar, btw. Beautiful dog.
