This last week has been awful. With loud ticking, snapping in ear that ends up in dizziness..sinus problems bad...could there be a connection? Bad fatigue also. Our weather has been hot and humid also in Ohio .
Jade70, i think allergies, sinus issues play a big part in triggering attacks as past posts from other members have stated. I know it is a trigger for me, as soon as i feel up to it i am getting allergy tested, the trouble with living in a rural area in western Oklahoma, i have to go to OKC for anything like that, in the meantime i have eliminated all dairy and sugar from my diet and something is helping.....either diet change, valacyclovir kicking in...but my hearing a tad better, staying on JOH also.
Jade70 - I also have occasions where I hear what I call a "chirping". Ticking would be another way to describe it. It is on a 1 or 2 second interval. It tends to occur just before I have an attack when the aural fullness is at it's worst and the ringing is really loud. I also sometimes get it after the attack for a short time. My tinnitus takes a couple of different forms. Sometimes a roaring/whooshing...sometimes a dull droning. The worst is what I call the "cicadas". It is extremely loud and sounds like a tree full of cicadas in my head. This usually happens after a bad attack and lasts about a day. It never completely goes away, but it gets to the point where I hardly notice it. (and then the cycle starts all over).
