I have been doing allergy shots for 3 months now and Meniere's symptoms are about 80%(or more) improved. Of course this can be a coincidence and not be improved from the shots despite my feeling that it is. If you have had positive or negative (none) results from allergy shots, I would like to know please helped or not helped, and do you still take them at what frequency?
3 weeks?!? wow hope it continues i'm going back monday to get tested again after many yrs. first time the nurse started laughing after she saw how many things i was allergic to everything see what happens
Hi - Starting my fourth year of weekly injections. Each year has shown improvement over the previous one. Hearing is stable and no vertigo for more than three years. Good luck, John
Me, probably 6 months - 2 years was the improvement period, maybe a little earlier. Then it just stayed good with hearing in the normal range and other hearing symptoms gone.
getting tested monday had started high serc dosage but have to stop for 4 days to be tested for allergies am interested to see if i'm still off the charts on any and everything
I am going to ask about allergy testing when I see my Neurotologist on the 30th. I had gotten allergy testing done last July but I had found a doctor on my own. The doctor didn't really know anything about Cochlear Hydrops so when I tested positive for seasonal allergies he told me just to take Claritin and gave me a nose spray. He didn't seem to want to do allergy shots. I am hoping if I can get my ear doctor on board he can find me somewhere to get tested again that would be willing to let me do allergy shots. I have a strong feeling that I might find some relief from the shots because I was bad all last spring/summer and almost normal during the fall/winter and now my ear is bad again now that it is spring/summer.
You can find your own allergist who will be happy to give you allergy shots. Go in for the exam and tell em you want the testing same day , stand up for yourself, doctors can't b relied on to do that for you. After the testing the serum is made up for about a week later to start the shots. Just look up allergist or allergy shots online for your city. Its your money that they want, they will listen to you.
I didn't press the issue the first time because I thought the Claritin and spray might help. Recently I read though that the shots can help the inner ear but the medications not so much.
I have a habit of starting two interventions at once and then I never know which is doing me the most good. However, something is working! I started Betahistine, which I have to order from a compounding pharmacy, and noticed improvement and a change in my vertigo. It went from long, drawn out vomiting sessions to shorter spins and much faster recovery. Then I began allergy shots and the vertigo has gotten even shorter, like down to just a minute-long spin and a few minutes recovery. The problem is, these short spins come on very quickly now and I don't have any warning. I have been fighting this horrid disease since 1997, so all in all there has been improvement. Margie
