Hi, me again. Remember my eardrum ruptured about three weeks ago? Last week my hearing started to clear up, didn't feel like I was talking in a tunnel. So I figured the eardrum had probably healed. No more drainage and no pain. Friday I had a mild attack. Was able to divert one yesterday. This morning I feel another sharp pain and suddenly my ear feels full. Again, blood. My hearing was pretty good this morning despite the mild attack. But after this morning my hearing is worse than it's ever been. If I close my good ear and listen with my bad ear then everything is muffled and it's hard to make out what is being said. I can still hear out of it but it's definitely got some hearing loss. Everythhing is muffled and if I close up my good ear and listen with my bad ear, I have a very hard time making out what is being said, and it sounds far away. I'm supposing that it ruptured again because that was the same sensation I got the first time. And it hurts. Really bad. Won't quit throbbing, major tinnitus, and now nausea and sweats. Were the two attacks a coincidence or could this be related in any way? Usually when your eardrum ruptures it is a sharp quick pain and then no pain at all after that. This time it not only hurt wihen it ruptured but has continued to throb all day long and like I said, miy hearing is shot in that ear now.

When can you see a doctor?

My follow up from my last appointment about the rupture is in the beginning of August. She said to see if it will heal on it's own, which it seemed to do. If it hasn't healed when I go back then they may put a patch of some sort over the opening to encourage it to heal and keep the middle ear and inner ear from being exposed. The reason it figured it had gotten better is because my ear didn't whistle any more when I blew my nose. Well it's whistling now. You could hear it two miles away. I guess I'll call the doctor tomorrow morning and see what she wants me to do at this point. I'm just baffled as to how and why it would rupture again, so close together.

Doctor office said come in next Monday at my regular appointment. If it's ruptured again or even still ruptured from first time then they'll reevaluate next Monday and do another hearing test as well. I told them I felt like it was worse, not better, the hearing and ear. Guess we'll see next Monday how it turns out. I can hear my pulse pounding in my right ear. Strange. Thanks for the support guys!
