Well, after weaning off the Prednisone and the bad side effects--and as I posted, my word recognition had improved in spite of the Prednisone side effects--now it seems I cannot hear TV or have a conversation without adjusting my hearing aid often and then it's not good! My Ent said the effects of the Prednisone would possibly continue to work over the next 2 to 3 weeks. So, not to get my hearing aid (a new one) adjusted until I let the meds continue to do their work. Well, I turn the TV up loud and it's too loud for my husband--but not clear (though loud) for me! I turn up my hearing aid and it gets very distorted sound when going to the higher levels. My own voice goes from being too loud to 'tinney' sounding and the pressure in my head and ears at times is just soooo hard to deal with. This morning I have little tinnitus going on, and that's good because alot of the time it's like the sound one hears when the furnace/ air conditioner/dish washer--are going (only inside my head), making hearing even more difficult. I don't see my doctor for another 3 mos. Plan to call and report these symptoms and see if he needs to see me sooner (probably won't) or if I just have to go get the hearing aid adjusted first to see if that helps. Making anxiety very bad for sure. Having to have people I talk to 'repeat' so often! And in noisy places it's very nerve wracking! I use the 'speaker' on my home phone and am continually adjusting the volume and moving it around my head to find a better hearing position. Anyone here have this problem and if so--how do you address it? Does it eventually ease or have you had to have something done other than the Prednisone--which I can no longer take! Thank you for any suggestions.

This distortion was the worst symptom i dealt with and the one that antivirals helped the most. The tinniness is hearing loss in the low ranges. I hope it gets better soon. I know how tough it is to deal with.
