In searching I keep coming upon websites about this guy in Michigan claiming to "cure" Meniere's. Says he speaks at the Meniere's conferences. Has anyone heard of him? His website has offers of a week visit to work up/treat Meniere's.

Hi, I am currently in west Michigan on vacation and am also seeing Dr. Burcon. I have had two sessions and have two more yet this week. Due to $ constraints I did not choose the $2,000 plan and am using insurance for the four sessions. Dr. Burcon is clearly very knowledgeable about Meniere's. I am impressed with his approach. If I understand correctly most of the benefits for specific Meniere's symptoms (vertigo-related) correlate with adjustments as needed of C1 and C2. Mine were okay, but he found issues with C5. I was also given a full body massage yesterday that was greatly appreciated. I do not have vertigo yet, but perhaps his treatments will help to keep it at bay. He has talked of repeated successes of Meniere's patients who have severe vertigo. I have no reason to doubt him. I am less optimistic that his treatments will help my hearing loss but remain hopeful. I will report back when these sessions are done if that would be of interest.

Believe that they are referencing Upper Cervical treatment. Many names: Nucca, Atlas Orthogonal, Blair, etc... I have been going to Nucca for over 4 years. I can't say that it has cured my Meniere's but do know that it has helped my headaches, neck tension, etc. Believe that many do have vertigo connected with their cervical. I would recommend checking into Upper Cervical near you.

Sailing Guy... I'd love to hear of your success with Dr. Burcon! So far my vertigo is managable but the continued hearing loss is distressing (more loss this week). I was also considering a vacation to the area if it would be beneficial (couldn't travel until Oct).

I don't have any upper cervical chiropractors in my area - although I do within two hours. Four hours to a NUCCA. Worries me to go to a random chiropractor I know nothing about. There are articles floating around the web about chiro adjustments causing "sudden hearing loss".

For now I just started more oral steriods and antivirals. Also JOH regime.

Chiropractors claim they can cure anything. It's usually just another expensive waste of time, but worth a try if insurance pays.

I agree with scott, chiropractors are good sales men/women, so you have to be careful with your money. However I've heard some people benefit from NUCCA. I think the ones that do benefit have had some kind of issue in their neck that developed.

The red flag re this man, imo, was he claimed 100% cure. No one and nothing is 100% so it is hard for me to take him seriously as a man of science.

Has anyone had negative effects after these upper spine corrections? I have seen chiropractors on and off for years - and even have gone to my regular chiro regarding these hearing loss issues before I started worrying about them possibly making things worse. My local chiro says not to let anyone touch my neck -- even in a massage (I'd given him stuff on the net about the possiblity of adjustments causing sudden hearing loss).

I have never had any issues. I go to Nucca and my adjustments (each person's are different based on the tests, xrays and measurements) are actually up near the base of my ear vs "neck". I have less concerns with Nucca/Blair/Upper Cervical/Atlas Orthogonal (all similar) because there is no cracking, no force. You barely feel it. I would never say that it helps 100% for Meniere's and vertigo, but absolutely don't think it hurts and do believe that it does have a positive impact.

    Hi folks,

I saw Dr. Burcon four times in eight days. I found him to be very thorough, generous with his time and expertise, and relatively easy to work with, particularly as I did not opt for the $2,000 treatment plan over a week but instead used insurance that I am fortunate to have. I was in west Michigan on vacation with my family, so travel expenses were minimal. If I understand Dr. Burcon correctly my C1 and C2 were relatively okay-not typical of Meniere's patients he usually sees. I do have issues with C5 but it appears not to be associated with Meniere's. According to Dr. Burcon C1 is related to balance and C2 with hearing. My appointments were about 90 minutes to two hours each. He listened intently to my story and was upfront that most of his treatments/success were with vertigo related issues. We are still hopeful that the adjustments will help my hearing loss/tinnitus/fullness. However, if we are able to keep vertigo at bay that would be great. I did notice some improvement in aural fullness after one particular treatment. Dr. Burcon gave me lots of advice and has agreed to talk/work with any chiropractor I find in my own city. I may see Dr. Burcon again when I return to MI to see family. I say all of this with the caveat that these are my own first impressions of working with him. Perhaps anyone who wishes to see Dr. Burcon may want to ask for references from previous patients and/or do more research to determine whether visits may be of possible benefit.
