Well, another problem has surfaced for me. Due to my hearing getting worse, my Ent doctor wants me to try taking 2 water pills--that I have taken for a long time--HCTZ--but this past year, I asked my primary if I could 'not take them' due to how dizzy I got and he ok's it, saying just take them when needed--like when my feet would swell. I'm to let him know in one week how my hearing is doing--and I see him soon for another audiogram. Well, it was my Ent's nurse practitioner, in his absence, advised me to go back to taking 1 daily to see if that helped my recent hearing problems. Then when it didn't help, my Ent doctor told me to increase it for two weeks to 2 daily!! So, going from one 'as needed' to 2 daily, has caused today to really be awful--am so dizzy and nauseated. Has this happened to anyone due to water pills? I even checked with my cardio-doctor due to a possible conflict with a medication he has me on--and he ok's me taking the 2 daily, (that was yesterday), but is ordering an electrolytes check on me in two weeks to be sure that's ok. Well, after only a few days on the one a day water pill and one day on the 2 a day--this day has 'put me down'. Could it just be a 'bad day' or due to the water pill? Just checking here to see if anyone here has ever had this happen? Thanks Feeling so confused and miserable!
50 m seems like a lot. Diuretics gave me gout and dam that shit was painful. Eat a banana every day to replenish K. Potassium
Thanks I thought about the banana too. This has truly been an 'awful day'! Even lying down--which usually gets my head under control and eases the nausea--didn't help. I gave in and had a 'good (if that's what you call it) cry! Just a 'pity party' for one! Still feeling so lightheaded (but pressure there too--strange) and some nausea going on. Could just be a 'flare-up' since my hearing has gotten worse the last few weeks. But sure is coincidental that I began the daily water pill and then yesterday (when I felt so good) took the 2 water pills and today was this bad. Thanks for your suggestion. Never had gout but from all I've heard--don't want it!
YG, if life is completely horrible and you feel yourself slipping into depression and have exhausted all avenues of treatment. Go for the laby and put this shit behind you forever. Life if way too short to let mm control it. Get that laby and come down to Cocoa Beach for a surf lesson this fall. You'll have the time of your life. You have suffered way to long with this BS disease.
Are you taking the pills together or one each at separate times during the day? I'm currently on one and a half pills. I take the half earlier in the day and then the whole around dinner. On a few occasions on days when I went overboard on the sodium I did take two pills (as recommended by my doctor) but didn't notice any adverse side effects. When I first started taking one pill I had some issues as my body adjusted to the medication but it was only temporary. When my dosage was increased to one and a half I didn't have any problems.
I do hope I didn't imply 'life is completely horrible'! We come here when we're struggling with an issue--maybe come several times when things are truly bad! But then we 'get up, wipe ourselves off, and carry on.' Thanks for the offer of learning to surf--that made me laugh. Today is a better day but in my younger--best days, no surfing for me. I'm a senior citizen now--to thanks for the suggestion--but 'no thanks'. And as for surgery, as long as I can hear (though poorly) and have pretty good balance--no more surgery. I may have to change my mind--but not now. So you see, life is not 'completely horrible'! But there are truly awful days for many of us here!
