the last couple of months when i look straight up or turn my head a certain way i get waves of vertigo;i did the epley manuever and it didn't do anything;if i roll over in bed i have to be careful;it usually doesn't last long but yesterday i had to look up several times and it's made me pretty sick;appreciate your thoughts
First suggestion is don't look up or turn your head certain ways...no sense asking for it. 8) It may not be BPPV, as Meniere's and BPPV share those common traits of odd movement causing issues. Basically, it's telling you there's a serious inner ear issue going on. I was an astronomy buff (still am) but had to give up my binocular viewing as every time I looked up I'd go over backward, and having my eyes in the bino's as I swept the sky would make me dizzieranhell.
We've never discussed crystals in the ear that come loose and appears to have some of the symptoms of Menieres and other diseases we cover here. That's a possibility.
The above mentioned is bppv Dr rauch in his videos also discussed cervical vertigo which was slightly different tha bppv. I think he referenced the motion like when you turn your head to look under the sink. You might google that phrase.
There are exercises you can do at home if it is BPPV. They do work, but may not be fun. The first time I did them I vomited, but thankfully, I'm pretty stubborn and continued to do them. That was over ten years and I've not had the problem since. If you're interested in getting a copy, leave me a message and I'll forward a copy to you.
Not necessarily June. I had my first bad vertigo attack while installing a new faucet in the kitchen sink. Every time I stood up it got worse, and finally it went full-vertigo followed by 4 hrs. of terror and barfing..had no idea what had hit me. I've went through loads of tests (VNS, etc) and it was definitely Meniere's. Asked the doc to give me the Eply maneuvers, just in case, and he did while telling me I didn't have BPPV but actual Meniere's, and 4 years later had a Laby in that ear. I'm not saying it could not be BPPV, BUT, Meniere's could also be the source of the problem as well as half a dozen other things. In reality, there is NO WAY any of us on this forum can make a diagnosis based on an internet post. We guess, suggest and try to help the person, but for any of us to actually say it is absolutely "X" is not being responsible. It takes a competent Neurotologist to make that determination after performing tests.
Mike, i meant what bumblebea described in the post above mine with crystals is bppv. I have no way to know what the op has but thought it was worth googling cervical vertigo.
