Not sure where to start...I had started a new vitamin a couple weeks ago. I noticed increasing dizziness but at first attributed it to my Meniere's. After the dizziness progressively worsened over the course of a few days I had my first vertigo attack in two years. I immediately went off the multivitamin and started to increase my Valacyclovir to 2x daily and the few JOH supplements I take. The dizziness started to get better but I had brain fog, ear fullness...basically all my original symptoms.

This morning I woke up with my good ear completely clogged. I called my NUCCA and she got me in first thing this morning. She said I felt warm and took my temp and I have a fever so she said it may be the virus reactivating itself. Funny thing is that with the good ear feeling completely clogged today I feel more balanced and steady then I have in a really long time...coincidence?

I saw my general physician yesterday and she wrote me a new script to continue on Valacyclovir 2x daily for the next two months then if everything is better I'll go back to my maintenance dose of 1x daily.

I really hope my good ear isn't going bad...I'm in my 30's and hate the fact that I have to live with this for the next several decades.

Any suggestions on how to quickly get this suppressed again besides increasing the Valacyclovir?

Sarah, I am sorry to hear about this reoccurrence. There is a post active now on different manufacturers of valacyclovir so you may want to make sure you are on the best one. In JOH's story he had a temporary relapse after taking argenine so not sure of the makeup of the new vitamin you took but it could end up being a temporary setback. Please don't get discouraged. I had my first severe vertigo attack at 32. I'm 57 now and have had many good days/months/years in between. All the best.

If you think the virus is active, I would go up to 3 grams/day. That is how I understand the protocol works.

I'd do as much JOH protocol as you can, especially Lysine and immune system boosters. Maybe also MSM because possibly this is connected to fall allergies. In fact you might try other allergy remedies.

Also, if you are taking a generic Valacyclovir, I would check to see if your generic brand was switched. I had an increase in symptoms last fall. It took a long time to figure this out, but I eventually found that my generic brand had been switched at that time. Switching back was a great help, and, more recently, getting onto the brand name Valtrex has been an even greater help.

I would also go to 3000 mg per day until I felt right again. And check to see if your generic brand changed without you knowing it.
