On another site, two users said their driver's license was taken after reporting Meniere's to their doctor. Is this common?

Probably state dependent. My state doesn't.

Ah yes, never thought of that. I'm told in Cal, they have a list of taboos, like epilepsy, feinting, etc., and Meniere's is listed. Mention one episode to doctor and the clinic automatically sends data to DMV. [or so I'm told]

I have menieres is not a defense if you have an attack while driving and injure or kill somebody.

True, but unlike a heart attack which is instantaneous, my Meniere's comes on very slowly with 10-15 minute warnings.

I'll admit I've driven when I wasn't 100%. Then again everything is within 5 miles of me. I shouldn't have done that. I don't anymore and thank god I never got into an accident and hurt someone.

Thanks. My attacks come very slowly, a slight ringing in one ear that gets louder and louder. It takes 10 to even 20 minutes before other symptoms appear and I get dizzy. I know to sit and take meds because it's coming and I have plenty of warning.
