Hey all, long time no post. I searched the forum and didn't see anything posted regarding Helminthic Therapy, so let me be the first. For those of you who know me, I've become the human guinea pig for all possible treatments for MD. From all the standard stuff (western MD meds of all varieties, chiros, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, anti-virals, JOH, antibiotics, Anti-virals, etc etc) to the experimental such as hypnosis, energy healers, Orthokine and SS I've tried almost everything (and certainly everything on this forum so far). Therefore, next up on the list is Helminthic Therapy. For those who don't know what it is, the wiki provides a nice synopsis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helminthic_therapy I was referred to one woman with MD who reports much improved symptoms after Helminthic treatment (she said "it has given me my life back"), so I'm going to jump right in and give it a shot. I understand that this is just one anecdotal story, but I've tried crazier things with less evidence. Like my Orthokine experience, I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. Wow, you are a brave one. I'm the first to say I'll do damn near anything to rid myself of MD but this might be too far even for me. I went on a short trip to Mexico a couple years ago and came home with an unwelcome parasite which in turn triggered a crazy GI response that took the docs many months to figure out and treat. It was kind of awful. I can't imagine infesting myself purposely! Will be interested to hear how this goes for you. Best wishes!

Thanks for the post/link, Vickie. I suppose I should have clarified that I've tried everything EXCEPT any surgeries. I'm still trying to find a non-surgical way to control my symptoms. But if things keep going downhill, that will be my next step, sadly. Thanks again for posting.

Wow James, I have not read this but just read through the preview and the reviews and I'll be getting it not for sure. Thanks for the link! I won't be starting the treatment until the new year, but I'll keep you updated.
Vicky is that surgery available in the US? I asked My doctor about it a few months back He said he thinks I'm talking about the decompression Surgery. He was not familiar with it, which surprised me bc He is a extremely high rated otoneurologist .
I am not sure if it is available in the USA by now but if you email Dr Saliba he can let you know if anyone here is doing it yet.
Well, it took me over a year, but I finally did it. I am now infected with 15 Necator Americanus. It can take 6-18 months (sometimes longer) to see results, but I'll keep everyone updated. Never thought I'd be purposefully infecting myself with worms....oh the things MD will make us do.
Well, good luck. Personally, I wouldn't do this but I hope you see some results. How exactly did they get these in you? Did you ingest them? Do they live in your digestive tract or do they move about your body? Can they reproduce and what happens when you want to end treatment?
There is quite a bit on Helminthic therapy out there surprisingly, so I figured why not give it a shot. You take the larvae and put them on a patch and then onto your skin. They get in through the skin and then reside in intestines/GI tract. They can't reproduce, and they are very easily terminated. In fact, most of the posts on the Helminthic therapy group worry more about keeping them alive! My primary care doctor was on board with it; he has been very accommodating of everything I've wanted to try (SS, Orthokine in Germany, various supplement regimens, etc).

Thanks- that has been my thought process. It seems more and more evident to me as I read that immune system dysfunction is at the root of a lot more diseases than we ever imagined. Add to that the recent discoveries about the immune system and immunological responses being largely correlated to gut health and the microbiome, and this at least makes sense to try. There are quite a few cases - albeit all anecdotal from forums like this - of people with asthma and allergies where helminthic therapy has helped. Considering I have asthma as well, maybe it'll help that and I'll have one less thing to worry about. This isn't an overnight process or a "cure-all" by any means, so I doubt I'll post very regularly. That being said, if it provides any relief I think it's worth having it documented here and at least an option for those who may want to investigate it further.
