Interesting report here: http://newatlas.com/menieres-disease-steroid-injections/46500/ --John of Ohio
I had steroid injections. The first thing I noticed was that my vision was sharper. At first I went every 2 weeks. Then since it was helping I went once a week. Finally she decided that if I got tubes I could use the steroid drops at home. That worked for awhile too. Years in fact. Then symptoms came back. And I needed Tympanoplasty to repair a hole in my eardrum that wouldn't heal. My Dr puts a numbing agent in your ear and you sit for 10 minutes gEating you jump. Then she uses a special vacuum and gets the numbing agent out. If your unilateral it's only one ear. It does cause a huge spin for some. For me that lasted about 3-5 minutes. It's because you've filled the ear with steroids and it flooded the ear. If someone was starting with Menieres my Dr sticks to the least invasive treatments for as long as she can. I use Valcyclovir now. I've been on Acyclovir
i asked about steroid injections last time i was at the docs and she said Karolinska (where I go) stopped using them as they were having too many people lose their hearing.
