I spent 4 hours today at a hearing and balance institute. I'm at my wit's end with the constant dizziness. They conducted a series of balance and hearing tests then I ended the visit meeting with the doctor. She said that I may have a couple things going on. My hearing test was great with very minimal high frequency loss. I failed the balance/perception testing so I have to go back in a couple weeks (their earliest opening) to do more in-depth balance testing that will take 3 hours then go back two days after that for a final balance test and then will receive my diagnosis. She said I may not have Meniere’s (which I was diagnosed by a different doctor 2 years ago who diagnosed me just off symptoms and no testing was done) or I may have that combined with something else. She said I may also have Mal de Debarquement Syndrome. After the next balance tests she said she will have a definite answer for me and treatment plan. She is also going to analyze the brain MRI (I had done last year) with another doctor in the office to see if there is anything that was missed.

I’m hopeful for a diagnosis and resolution. Just have to wait a few more weeks for the answers.

Waiting is the worst part. Try not to think about all of the what ifs.

My psychiatrist sent me to a psychiatric neurologist. They are doing a cognition test from 9-2 next week. I'm actually very interested in what the test entails and what the results are. I think we talk about the results when the testing is done. If I remember any of it, it will be a miracle.

I've never heard of a psychiatric neurologist. Learn something new all the time! :)
Please report back after you have the test. If you remember it--that is! LOL

    Yanks girl,

    You made me laugh. Thank-you.
Yes I will let everyone know as I'm wondering if the cognition issues stem from Menieres or if I'm on the road to dementia.

    Sara,

It sounds like you are getting thorough care. If you do have MdSD, these exercises may be of help. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your next round of tests.

    You're welcome!

    How are you doing, Sara?

No edit button . It was supposed to be MdDS! Oops.
