Has anyone had to wait several months before , getting relief from anti virals? I'm still not having any relief but feel like I should keep taking it because it may take a little longer for me. I'm trying to keep hopeful. Also I was on Klonopin for anxiety and think I'm having withdrawals from that. Could that interfere with the antivirals effectively? Any suggestions would be appreciated. For some reason I think that is causing me not to get relief yet. I don't know just tired of this hell.
Others may disagree, but i think if antivirals were the ticket for you, you would have some indication of that by now. When you say, getting relief, do you mean complete relief? For most people antivirals are not an on off switch but relief comes gradually. Two steps forward, one step back. I wouldnt necessarily think you would have complete relief in five minths but i think you would sense improvement. Have you looked at MAV ? Any chance it could be that? Is vertigo your main complaint ? Has an ent ruled out the other possible causes for vertigo?
I was diagnosed with Mienere's years ago and I will bring up the MAV when I go to the Otolaryngologist in January. Vertigo, ear pressure is horrible. Also off balanced feeling a lot.
Hi Scott, I'm taking Valacyclovir 3x a day at 1gm each. My insurance didn't approve the Name brand for it. I don't know if it's because of the withdrawal from Klonopin, that's delaying the pill to work.
I'm so confused. I had an sac decompression years ago for the Mienere's. It took away the pressure in my ear and I wasn't taking Klonopin then. Now I'm having the ear pressure again. I don't know if it's from Withdrawal or Mienere's. I will keep taking the antiviral. If in 2 more months I don't get any improvement with vertigo, ear pressure etc.. I will try something called bioflavonoids with rutin and lemon rinds. Someone told me it helped a lot with their vertigo and ear fullness but, they have BPPV not Mienere's. I'm so scared.
I personally would take that now. Try everything. Then if all else fails, get a laby, unless you're bilateral. But make sure it's not MAV first.
I will ask the Otolaryngologist about MAV. What if I didn't have Mienere's qnd I had the sac surgery for nothing. Omg I can't believe this is my life. Thank you for your advice.
I'm sorry that you're not finding relief after so long. It's impossible for us to tell what is going on, or whether you have Menieres or not. I do hope that you can find the answers soon. In the meantime, i would personally hit this with everything, including JOH, antivirals, strict headache diet, etc. Are you taking Northstar generics? I can't remember if you say so or not.
I agree with Scott - throw every thing at it. Before I could get anti-virals, I tried very high dose vitamin C and actually got relief from vertigo from that, but you can't do it forever unless you live alone (gas, gas and more gas ???) - but it was nice to see some progress! Another antiviral to try is Famvir (famciclovir)
I spent 5 months on acyclovir. It was a very BAD five months. Switched to Valacyclovir for three months and added OPC. At the end of three months I had the last of the aural fullness and vertigo. I kept taking 3 gms of val. everyday and 200 mg of OPC for the next several months and then I dropped to 2 gms of val. and kept taking the 200 mg of OPC. Next month will be three years with no vertigo or aural fullness/brainfog. I still take 1 g of val. and 200 mg of OPC every day. Good Health to You
