Lately I have had what I call 'musical tinnitus' in my bad ear. Actually, one time it was playing a soft song like way off in a distance that I knew. A pleasant one but not one you want continually playing in your head. Last night a soft sound like a song just a few notes was going on for awhile. And other times it's just like 4 notes and it keeps repeating. I'd just as soon have the normal 'bees, horns, etc'. Those you can mask sometimes with TV etc. These make you 'pay attention'. Anyone else have this type of tinnitus? I've read about it, so I know it happens but wondered if Meniere's is a factor in having it.
I am dealing with daily nausea--pretty intense right now. Have not given in to taking benzo's and it's been 6 weeks for the one and 2 for the other--I've not taken. Very tempted due to feeling so anxious at times. Very dizzy--thankfully, no vertigo. Having to get started today on my dressing mixings for tomorrow's baking. Big family get together at our daughter's house and then kids coming home with us afterward. Sure hope this improves. 'Happy Thanksgiving to all" hope we can enjoy and be thankful and I'm sure we all can in some way. :)

I have, only on a few occasions, awoke to a song playing so clearly in my ear that I have gotten out of bed and gone to the clock radio only to find that it had not gone off yet. Not sure what causes it. I always assumed that the music somehow gets caught in the inner ear and when it escapes the brain takes over and fills in any gaps. At first I just figured I was losing my mind since I was basically hearing voices in my head.

Pretty normal actually. Tinnitus is a strange thing. Mine (which is in both ears since I am bilateral)...and deaf....still the ruckus in both ears. ....often sounds like a radio announcer and music. But I don't understand the words or the tune or words. Remember that you don't hear (including tinnitus) with your ears. Its all in the brain. So the brain can recall what it knows and is trying to figure out that strange signal its getting from a sick ear. So it sounding like something familiar makes sense. Peace. s

Teesdale and skw111: Thanks for assuring me I'm not 'losing it'! I replied wo you, Teesdale but guess it got erased as someone was typing at the same time. Anyway--thanks to both of you.
I am dealing with bad head pressure and nausea the last few days. Decided to do what my ent told me, to take a Valium in the morning and evening. Well, it's not helping much. So probably won't even take it! The tinnitus is there--but that's not the big problem, it's the nausea and waking at night 'trembling' and it's ongoing today too. My nerves are under attack for sure! :) Had a really good day Monday and then spent yesterday in my recliner off and on--mostly 'on' and even had to lay down in bed but that only helps while you're there. Once I was up, no fun! So, you just have to push through it. I am concerned I'm going bilateral. Haven't called the doctor because this is all he'll tell me to do--and I just have to deal with it. He says I'm 'not going to go bilateral'. Well, it's hard to believe that when the better ear is giving me the problems. Anyway----

Yanksgirl, you're reply to me was caught within the quote you attached to your reply. I feel great empathy for you on the way you are feeling and great sympathy for you on the potential of it going bilateral. SJW may be able to help you understand that as he is a victim of bilateral progression.

I have no idea if it will help but I woke up feeling the same way you describe above, and after trying to force myself through the day I suddenly decided to do some vestibular rehab exercises. Staring at a spot on the wall and moving my head rapidly from side to side and then up and down. I did it for about 5 minutes. May be coincidence but shortly after I felt better and am having a much better day than I thought I would be having when I got out of bed this morning. Wishing you all the best!

I wish mine sounded like music and not the kind that sticks in your head. All I get is these different pitches of sound that makes me nuts.
It's raining here for 2 days now and weather always plays a part in Menieres. For me it's the tinnitus.

I tell you--this having one or two lines of music only--no words--thankfully :), going on in my ear is really nerve wracking! It sounds like the melody line of a song I know--in fact, I've had 3 distinct songs that play over and over, sounding 'far off' but of course in one's ear, it can be heard clearly! Like a CD stuck on a particular portion of a song! Maddening!!

Loud TV helps but I really need something 'in the ear'. Wonder if there is a 'masking hearing aid thing' that can maybe make 'white noise' to help. I'd rather hear a ringing or any type of tinnitus--and I've had it all from 'blasting sounds to just annoying tinnitus'. But the musical ones are the ones that get on my nerves the most.

Going to search Google and see if there is a device like a hearing aid that does 'white noise' and is adjustable. I wear a hearing aid in both ears so the one in the bad ear I will have to remove, to wear any other appliance of course. And it may be more annoying than this but I doubt it! Anyway======:)

A DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT OUR BRAINS ARE ACCUSTOMED TO SOUND. WHEN OUR HEARING BECOMES IMPAIRED, OUR BRAINS CREATE SOUNDS LIKE TINNITUS. IT MAY . BE BUZZY BEES, TRAINS, TALKING, MUSIC OR SIRENS.

MANY TIMES I TELL MY BRAIN TO SHUT UP.. LOL, IT DOESN'T WORK. ???

Thanks Dizzy--guess this is as normal as it is strange! Just very annoying. I'd rather have the cicada's or bees buzzing than have tunes/melodies going over and over in my head!
