Hello All... Well since good old menieres has taken a lot of my social life i'm starting to get back into building VW bugs. I used to love this but loved partying more. Now a days that's not much of a possibility so back to wrenching. Here's my question. I want to start welding some stuff so going to be taking a class to learn how to properly do it.. Is anyone here a welder and does the bright light affect you? I had an issue once where a bright light brought out the spinning devil inside. I don't want to do this if it can trigger it. Any insight please let me know. Thank you
I know that with me I have a severe sensitivity to light with my issues. Also with sounds... I would not say that light that I am aware of has ever caused me to have a bad attack thought.. But even someone holding up their cell phone to show me something usually has me shielding my eyes and scampering to a dark corner like a vampire just cause it hurts my eyes so much
Thank you... I do have some sensitivity as well...we will see how this goes. ill keep all posted. and if anyone has any other input id like to hear.
Will it interfere with having an mri? Seems like that is one of the questions they always ask and they may require some pre mri xray of younhave been cutting, grinding, welding ...
that's interested.. I never was asked if I was welding or doing anything like that.. or maybe because it didn't apply to me I didn't pay much attention when they asked.... ill look into more.. thank you
A bug nut? I was one as well. I was member #68 back in 1979 in the Vintage VW Club of America. Used to buy from Bob Scott back in the day. Finding your balance and reducing stress through restoring old VW's sounds like a good plan. Enjoy! Drew.
My husband is a welder, I'm not, but the welding smoke that he works in and brings home on his clothes badly affects me, so if you can handle the bright lights but still feel bad it could be the chemicals of the process. You won't know until you try it though and often we are pleasantly surprised what we can deal with and what we can't. It's all so individual.
They ask you because if you have any tiny splinters of metal in your eyes they can be dragged out by the powerful magnetic field and damage your eyes.
I weld occasionally at work and home, no issues with Meniere's unless I'm having an episode and I have to put my head at strange angles.
