First of all Merry Christmas to all!! Second of all.. HELP!... I have been suffering extreme ear fullness and now almost what I consider pain any time I hear a high pitched sound. Even slight TV volume sounds like a banshee screaming in my ear at high volume. This also has a worse kind of throbbing tinnitus in my right ear. Just regular tinnitus in left. I am not having vertigo symptoms "knock on wood" and have not for months. I increased lysine a few weeks back to 3000mg a day.I cannot get to a DR for anti-viral till after first of year =/ I know you say on anti-virals it can get worse before better. Could that possibly be the same on the lysine even though it is not an anti-viral? Also I have brought back vertigoheel to the mix.. Bottle says 1 pill 3x daily. Is that a good dose or should it be increased? Does it even help with fullness? Claritin? Allegra? Maybe an anti-histamine would help?
Lysine is an antiviral and it also can make it worse before it gets better. Are you taking it on an empty stomach? Some people, including the forum owner here, who are not able to take valacyclovir have found success with high dose vitamin C. You might read some of the threads in these forums on that.
Lemon Bioflavanoids and Ginkgo Biloba work well for me in terms of lowing pressure and somewhat alleviating sound sensitivity.
Oddly enough I just realized for years I had been taking lysine with a meal But since I upped dosage few weeks ago I am making sure to take on empty stomach
Currently taking two lemon bio a day Maybe will up to a third I have tried ginkgo before and had a hard time getting up to correct dosage Tends to mess with my heart rhythm
They only thing that worked for me was the antiviral approach and i did have these symptoms. That and it helped a tiny bit to eliminate caffeine.
I can't help with antiviral advice or experience but during the times that my ear is really sensitive to sound, sometimes even painfully, I keep a soft earplug in to reduce the noises. At first it took some getting use to having the tinnitus isolated, it was more obvious, but it didn't take long to get use to that, the easing of irritation and pain from outside noises made it better overall and even lessened the tinnitus. I rarely have this happen any more. Louder tinnitus is a warning sign that something is triggering a response and I have to figure out what it is and lessen or eliminate that. That approach to identifying triggers has been key to feeling better overall.
