Hey Ya'll! I'm back after a lengthy time of few spins. I guess its been a couple years since its been this bad, but here I am. To reintroduce myself, I am Shelly, the Rogue Historian. I used to be a ARFF (aircraft rescue fire fighter) and my fire service career ended about 6 1/2 years ago when I was diagnosed with Meniere's. I have no balance in the dark and cant climb ladders so they put me out on disability. I finished my master's degree in Special Education only to not be able to land a job in my chosen field. (that is a long story indeed). So now I am a city clerk/treasurer at a small town a few miles from where I grew up. This is a larger town than the one I was working in, but I moved up for better pay and perhaps a better working environment. I am married and we found out year before last we both have an infertility issue, so last year was us trying to get both of us ready for making a baby, as they say. We tried IUI once and then his numbers dropped off, so we walked away. IVF was our only option and its too expensive. We decided not to adopt (again the cost) and the foster care system jacked us around so much just to apply that we decided we couldn't be a part of something that we could not even begin to trust. So this fall, just before a crazy road trip, I had a spin. Minor really, no vomiting just spinning and nausea. We flew to pick up a car and I had to take antivert on the plane because as long as there was no turbulence I was sick as a dog. The hubby was the opposite. Anyhow I changed jobs and on my second day the boss quit. I had to pull over that night because I had a major spin/puke fest and couldn't drive any further. The hubby came and got me. That was mid November. Its been hell ever since. There is a LOT of drama at work after the election of a new mayor (we are council-manager so he shouldnt even be an issue but is) and after a meeting with a council member one day last week, I had another major puke spin. I went to the ENT who gave me valium and something for migraines (just in case thats the deal) and said my hearing loss from a couple years ago has reversed. He also gave me prednizone and told me my left ear drum was recessed but the pressure and all else was normal. I have BPPV now in my right ear and have been doing the epliy at home to try to correct it. I can not lose this job. I had to give up all rights forever to my state disability to take the job because it was beyond my earning limitations. Im still dizzy and nauseated as hell. The prednizone sucks, to be perfectly honest, but seems to have helped some. I really really want to work. I HAVE to work as my husband's job isn't enough to make the house payment and keep the lights on, and our payments are really low compared to what we paid in rent... but I digress... The ENT said next step is a injection in the "bad" ear of steroids, but we don't know which ear it is. (I kinda think its the right ear, but the hearing is back in it) I'm new at my job so there are no FMLA protections and once we get a new city manager I may have an issue if I get sick again. I've already missed two days and I've only been there 8 weeks. So here I am, again. Any thoughts, prayers, suggestions, etc would be awesome. Thanks
The beast just loves a bit of stress to nourish himself on. You have been guilty of overfeeding him, whether through design or accident. My advice is to put him back on a starvation diet as soon as possible.....
I'm assuming you are bilateral (since you dont know which ear is causing the issues). If so try and get on the anti-viral approach and JoH regimen as soon as possible. The steroids should help in the meantime.
