Hi all, 4 years ago, i was experiencing tinnitus, low freq hearing loss on my left ear and also vertigo. ENT diagnosed me with sudden deafness. after around 1 year starting Jan 2014, i only have very mild tinnitus and low frequency hearing loss but without vertigo at all until Sep 2016. starting Sep 2016, i had ~3 - 5 vertigo attacks per month. went to see different ENT and diagnosed of having MM. the tinnitus is getting worse while the audiometry is still the same as 3 years ago. currently taking serc 24mg x 2 per day. would like to try JOH regiment but difficult to buy those vitamins from where i live. is this MM? if it's yes, is it usual to have vertigo free for around 3 years? sorry for my bad English. thanks herman
Hi ckdk. Personally, it has taken me over 10 years to figure out my MM diagnosis. I have had tinnitus for decades and always figured it was from ear infections when I was young. In my 40's I started experiencing situational vertigo when I put myself in specific positions with no solid diagnosis. Next I started having vertigo attacks periodically in my early 50's. Again, no diagnosis. This past year (now my late 50's), I started with the low frequency rumble, pressure in my left ear, regular vertigo attacks and a diagnosis of MM. My symptoms now seem to be cyclical, a month or so bad, a month or so OK. I' have been on JOH for about 2 months now and I find myself still in an "OK" cycle. Hope this helps some. K
hi onedayatatime, so i guess it is normal for MM to have no vertigo for several years before it starts again. i have asked several ENT and none of them can give answer. are you also taking serc? or just JOH regiment? thanks, herman
Just JOH and low sodium for now. I have previously been on Triamterene and 12 day steroid pill regimes. My next step will be with an upper cervical Chiro as my spine has seen better days and it seems I fit the mold for C1 C2 issues. If treatment provides no benefit, I will then search out an ENT who will prescribe antivirals as my current ENT will not. As you might detect, I am trying to avoid surgery of any kind, if possible, until I exhaust all other possibilities. For me, the issue is not the Tinnitus, it's the nights laying by the toilet in the bathroom puking and the sudden onset of vertigo during my workday. BOL to you.
I forgot to add, "Normal" is not a word that fits folks on their MM journeys. Causes seem to be diverse as do solutions. And if you have not already discovered, you are pretty much on your own to figure it out. This site helps provide information, possible solutions and encouragement to keep seeking answers. K
