I appreciate this forum as I don't know anyone who has Meniere's and particularly has been able to manage it enough to work tec.
I got hope after reading JOH story and have been less dizzy since taking the supplements for (about 3 weeks). Also Meclizine when I feel dizzy. I have no improvement in hearing and continue with brain fog and poor memory. I have learned so much reading about everyone's experience. It helps me make decisions about what treatment that I might try. I have an appt. at Tampa Hearing and Balance Center on the 22nd of this month. I've had a brain MRI which revealed "nothing abnormal" per my internist who said come back in a month and go to Physical Therapy.
I'm going for a walk now and be thankful I can do that.

I'm glad you found this, marie. It sure does help to have people who understand.

Have you come across the information about anti-virals? They are making a big difference for a lot of us, including me.

    Welcome Marie! :)

Like you, I am new here. I have been holding most the symptoms at bay the JOH and low sodium. I have come to believe the causes of Menieres are diverse and every one of us is on a personal journey. This place is great to learn from others as to what works and what does not. The info also helps us to pursue our own personal causation of debilitating symptoms. My journey pushes me to pursue my long time upper cervical issues as I have found research which connects my old injury to my Menieres symptoms.

Hang in there and never give-up.

Thanks for the feedback. Now I feel that I'm not the only one with these symptoms that no one can SEE until I start vomiting, which thankfully I haven't in 3 1/2 weeks. I was doing an agency job at the time and had only had vertigo once or twice during the past yr. I told this agency that I wouldn't be available for a couple of weeks then had my internist write a back to work letter after getting the call that my MRI was negative for an acoustic neuroma. I spoke to the HR manager, 2 supervisors and thought I had gotten the green light to do work for them again only to get a call from the senior manager in HR telling me that I needed to meet with her that afternoon. I told her that I wasn't available thus started the back and forth so I informed her that if he Dr's letter wasn't sufficient that I was not interested in doing further work for them and that no I wasn't prepared to discuss my private health information with her despite her reassurance that she's bound to confidentiality and her fear that I was incapable of preforming the job. Now I'm looking online for work at home positions and wonder how do others adapt to working with symptoms like brain fog and others short of vertigo with vomiting.
    Best to all of you.

    Good to see you here.
You aren't alone in your symptoms.
    Lots of research here.
    Welcome.

Re: newbie / this is for Marie

    Marie
i'm not on here much as I'm one of the luckier ones. I've only had a handful of full blown episodes in over a decade now. This week following a bout with a serious chest cold, I am again afflicted, though moderately (which is beyond modest but not to nystagmus or brain fog ....yet). The JOH routine worked for me in that it helped. I 'm sure of that though how does one really know? DR Steenersen in Atlanta may be the foremost expert on Menieres anywhere USA. You may wish to look them up. All the best

Thank you all for your feedback.
I had some laughs today and realized I've been soo serious lately. I know that it's not realistic to be in a good place all the time so I'm going for balance.
Does anyone know; can motion/ travel sickness be an early sign of Meniere's?

MARIE- I'm new around here as well. Tend to not talk about it much when it's not flaring up. I'm not sure how it works with contractors and self-employed, but the Americans with Disabilities Act could be a valuable reference for you. (Also not sure where you live.) I'm a US federal employee and my employment depends on a clean medical clearance. This obviously disqualifies me while my symptoms are acting up. So again, I try not to talk about it when it's not a "real" problem. Even though the foggy, seasick feeling is pretty much constant, no one really knows that you are "sick". Keep fighting and never give up.

    thanks Coach.
Funny thing, I haven't gotten any calls from that agency but they were not easy to work with in other ways. So now I get to decide if I want to do anything differently going forward. I may disclose up front that I have been diagnosed with Meniere's. I hadn't had vertigo for a yr or 2 and felt panicky when I got sick on a job. The up side of not working is that I've been able to take better care of myself re. sleep, exercise, nutrition and socializing. I even inquired about volunteering at a senior center.
I know that that brain fog interferes with my job performance. Coach do you think that anyone at your job knows when you're dizzy or not on top of your game?

I think I hide it pretty well. Answer the question, "How you feeling today?" with "Fine", as I'm sure many of us do. When I'm feeling to far behind the power curve, I take time off. Trying to build up credit time when I'm feeling better. I have a high stress job, or so they say, and can't afford to make mistakes so I don't risk it.
